Optics / Optik:

Optisch kann die coloradofarbene Petit Corona nur als perfekt bezeichnet werden. Das seidige Deckblatt ist von gleichmäßiger Struktur und weist kaum Blattadern auf.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
As expected, the cigar spreads a fairly mild cold smell. Nutty with a mild woody note.

Erwartungsgemäß verströmt die Zigarre einen recht milden Kaltgeruch. Nussig mir einer milden Holznote.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
In contrast to the restrained cold smell, the small cigar shows a clear aroma. Primarily I perceive a very balanced wood note. Therein beautifully integrated I find of aromas of hazelnut and garden herbs. At the same time, a honey sweetness develops, which increases continuously in the course of smoking. Above all floats a slight saltiness that reminds me of sea and beach and which I feel is typical for Trinidad.

Im Gegensatz zum verhaltenen Kaltgeruch zeigt die kleine Zigarre eine deutliche Aromatik. Primär nehme ich eine sehr ausgewogene Holznote war. Darin schön eingebunden finde ich von Aromen nach Haselnuss und Gartenkräutern. Gleichzeitig entwickelt sich eine Honigsüße, die im Rauchverlauf kontinuierlich zunimmt. Über allem schwebt eine leichte Salzigkeit die mich an Meer und Strand erinnert und die ich als typisch für Trinidad empfinde.
Gegen Ende entwickeln sich zusätzlich etwas herbere Noten. Ich stelle hier neben einer deutlichen Holznote auch erdige Anklänge und leichte Tannine.

Conclusion / Fazit:

I am always surprised how well the little cigar has developed in recent years. For me, it's another reason why it pays to be patient and let Habanos age for a while.

Ich bin immer wieder überrascht, wie gut sich die kleine Zigarre in den letzten Jahren entwickelt hast. Für mich ist sie ein weiterer Grund, warum es sich lohnt, geduldig zu sein und Habanos eine gewisse Zeit nachreifen zu lassen.

Bolívar - Demi Tasse (Apr 2002)

Almost exactly three years ago, I had the small Bolivar in a tasting. I'm interested in how it has developed during these years.

Vor ziemlich genau 3 Jahren hatte ich die kleine Bolivar schon einmal im Tasting. Mich interessiert, wie sie die Zigarre in diesen Jahren entwickelt hat.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
Mild, but very aromatic coldsmell. Sandalwood and floral aromas. In addition some hazelnut.

Milder, jedoch recht aromatischer Kaltgeruch. Sandelholz und blumige Aromen. Dazu etwas Haselnuss.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar starts like the last tasting quite strongly. Woody aromas dominate the basic tobacco flavor.

Die Zigarre beginnt wie beim letzten Tasting recht kräftig. Holzige Aromen dominieren den tabakigen Grundton.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the further course the cigar is mild, but also aromatic. Distinct aromas of roasted hazelnut and some fresh pine. Additional elements of the second third are aromas of lemon cake.

Im weiteren Verlauf wird die Zigarre milder, jedoch auch aromatischer. Deutliche Aromen nach gerösteter Haselnuss und etwas frisches Tannenholz. Ergänzt wird das zweit Drittel durch Aromen von Zitronenkuchen.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The aromatic mildness is also reflected in the final third. However, here the flavors are less differentiated. Rather, there is a soft, pleasant impression, which is rounded off by coffee flavors.

Die aromatische Milde setzt sich auch im letzten Drittel fort. Jedoch sind die Aromen hier weniger differenziert. Vielmehr ergibt sich ein weiches, angenehmes Bild, welches durch Kaffeearomen abgerundet wird.

Conclusion / Fazit:
the Demitasse is still a very tasty cigar. Too bad that it is no longer produced.

die Demitasse ist noch immer eine sehr leckere Zigarre. Schade, dass sie nicht mehr produziert wird.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
Initially noticed the flowery, fresh cold smell. I don't expect that at a 13-year-old machinemade cigar. Slight toasted hazelnut-shell to mixed with aromatic, white chocolate and fresh sawdust.

Anfangs fällt sofort der blumige, frische Kaltgeruch auf. Hätte ich bei einer 13 Jahre alten Maschinenzigarre so eher nicht erwartet. Leichte Röstaromen nach Haselnussschale mischen sich mit aromatischer, weißer Schokolade und frischen Sägespänen.

Burning, ash / Abbrand, Asche:
Beautiful, even combustion.
Silver-gray ash with a closed surface. From time to time there is a "ash-fiber" protruding out of the surface. Slightly stained. Good stability.

Schöner, gleichmäßiger Abbrand.
Silbergraue Asche mit geschlossener Oberfläche. Ab und zu steht mal eine Faser ab. Leicht fleckig. Gute Stabilität.

1st third / 1. Drittel:

2nd third / 2. Drittel:

Diese Entwicklung setzt sich im 2. Drittel fort. Lecker hölzern und würzig. Dazu passen die floralen Aromen nach Kräutern und Wildblumen. Samtig-cremiger Rauch.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
As expected, the flavors are out to end more robust. Moderate roasted flavors are reminiscent of strong toasted bread. The cigar becomes strong earthy. Simultaneously, the floral aromas of wild grasslands continue to be found in the creamy-buttery smoke.
The finals will begin with fresh menthol notes.

Erwartungsgemäß werden die Aromen zum Ende hin robuster. Mittelstarke Röstaromen erinnern an kräftig geröstetes Toastbrot. Dazu zeigt sich die Zigarre kräftig erdig. Gleichzeitig finden sich die floralen Wildwiesen-Aromen nach wie vor im cremig-buttrigen Rauch.
Das Finale wird durch frische Menthol-Noten eingeleitet.

Conclusion / Fazit:
Wow! A great little cigar, on which the machinemaking do not necessarily remarks.
Too bad that there are no longer so many.

Wow! Eine tolle, kleine Zigarre, der man die Maschinenfertigung nicht unbedingt anmerkt.
Schade, dass es nicht mehr so viele gibt.

Cuaba - Distinguidos Reserva del Milenio

Yesterday, a few days ago, some friends and I had a very tasty Cuaba - Reserva del Milenio Distinguidos from the Millennium Reserve Jar of 1999.
The occasion was a tasting in the german CigarClan 1/2011 (I'm sorry, I can't find the article in english.), in which the cigar got off pretty badly. As we can't imagine, we have taken this little self-experiment.

Gestern Abend habe ich mit ein paar Freunden eine äußerst leckere Cuaba - Distinguidos Reserva del Milenio aus dem Millennium Reserve Jar von 1999 verköstigt.
Anlass war ein Tasting im CigarClan 1/2011, in dem die Zigarre ziemlich schlecht weggekommen ist. Da wir uns das nicht so recht vorstellen mochten, haben wir diesen kleinen Selbstversuch unternommen.

Optical impression / optischer Eindruck:
Glossless colorado-wrapper with a velvety surface. Small veins, but in the few veins green fermentation error.

Mattes Colorado Deckblatt mit einer samtigen Oberfläche. Geringe Aderung, jedoch an den wenigen Adern Fermentationsfehler.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Milkchocolate, vanilla, peeled and roasted hazelnuts

Milchkakao, Vanille, geschälte und geröstete Haselnuss

Draw / Zug:
Despite barely cutting just very slightly.

Trotz knappem Anschnitt sehr leicht.

Flavor / Aroma:
The big perfecto starts very creamy and mild with a slight sweetness. Reminiscent of vanilla truffle. Minimal peppery. Sometimes it offers a slightly salty draw.
Later in increasingly peaty. In addition, walnuts and a permanent, light vanilla note.
Significantly increasing strength towards the end. The cigar is increasingly woody and ends in a finale of chili and mint.


Die große Figuardo startet sehr cremig-mild mit einer leichten Süße. Erinnert an Vanilletrüffel. Minimal pfeffrig. Abwechslung bietet ab und zu ein etwas salziger Zug.
Im weiteren Verlauf zunehmend torfig. Ergänzend dazu Walnuss und eine permanente, leichte Vanillenote.
Gegen Ende dann deutlich zunehmende Stärke. Die Zigarre wird zunehmend holzig und endet in einem Finale aus Chili und Minze.

Strength / Stärke:
Officially

Amtlich.

Combustion and ash / Abbrand und Asche:
Semi-open ash-structure of light gray-brown color. Good stability. Drops abruptly after nearly 4 cm.
Eccentric, well-pronounced glowing tip. However, this causes a permanent unevenly burning.

Halboffene Aschestruktur von hellgrau-brauner Farbe. Gute Stabilität der Asche. Fällt erst nach knapp 4 cm, dann aber unvermittelt.
Außermittiger, gut ausgeprägter Glutkegel. Dadurch jedoch permanenter Schiefbrand.

Conclusion / Fazit:
The cigar can also mature additional 10 years. Very tasty. In this case, I'm going with Min Ron Nee.
The bad impression left by the cigar of the cigarclan-tasting, I can not confirm.

Die kann auch noch weitere 10 Jahre reifen. Äußerst lecker.
Den schlechten Eindruck, den das Exemplar im CigarClan-Tasting hinterließ, konnten wir nicht bestätigen.
