Optics / Optik:
The almost oscuro-colored cigar has a fine wrapper structure without significant veins. Due to the slightly greasy surface, the cigar looks very appetizing.

Die fast schon oscurofarbene Zigarre weist eine feine Deckblatt-Struktur ohne nennenswerte Adern auf. Durch die leicht speckige Oberfläche wirkt die Zigarre sehr appetitlich.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
In coldsmell primarily sweet flavors can be detected. Dark chocolate is paired with fresh shortcrust and white coffee. Aromatic and spicy components that are reminiscent of sweet grass, complement the cold smell.

Beim Kaltgeruch sind primär süße Aromen feststellbar. Dunkle Schokolade paart sich mit frischem Mürbteig und Milchkaffee. Aromatisch-würzige Komponenten, die an süßes Gras erinnern, runden den Kaltgeruch ab.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
I am accustomed, that cigars from Nicaragua develop a different flavor, as it suggests from the coldsmell. Here also. The cigar starts rich and buttery. Slightly resinous, and slightly bitter flavors provide a pleasant contrast.

Bei nicaraguanischen Zigarren bin ich gewohnt, dass sie einen anderen Geschmack entwickeln, als es der Kaltgeruch vermuten lässt. So auch hier. Die Zigarre startet satt und butterig. Leicht harzige, sowie leicht bittere Aromen sorgen für einen angenehmen Kontrast.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle area, the cigar remains creamy and rather sweet with flavors of caramel and toast. In this section earthy and woody flavors provide variety.

Auch im mittleren Bereich bleibt die Zigarre cremig und mit Aromen nach Karamell und Toast eher süßlich. Für Abwechslung sorgen in diesem Abschnitt erdige und holzige Aromen.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In contrast to the rather sweet flavors that previously dominated the taste, spicy and tart flavors come to the fore. As early as the middle develops the cigar woody flavors and strong roasted aromas. The slightly bitter flavors that previously accompanied the smoking experience, are also noticeable in the last third.

Im Gegensatz zu den eher süßen Aromen, die bisher den Geschmack dominierten, treten hier zunehmend würzig-herbe Aromen in den Vordergrund. Wie schon in der Mitte entwickelt die Zigarre holzige, sowie starke Röstaromen. Die leicht bitteren Aromen, die bisher den Rauchgenuss begleiteten, sind auch im letzten Drittel feststellbar.

Optics / Optik:
First, the cigar stands out visually with its provocative Anila. Deep black with a bone on it. The dark maduro wrapper visibly underscores the strong character of the cigar. Although the wrapper is slightly greasy, it has a matt, slightly rough surface. The excellent cover has very little leaf veins, but the overall picture seems a bit robust.

Optisch fällt die Zigarre zuerst durch ihre provokante Anila auf. Tiefschwarz mit einem Knochen darauf. Das dunkle Maduro-Deckblatt unterstreicht auch optisch den kräftigen Charakter der Zigarre. Obwohl es leicht speckig ist, weist das Deckblatt eine matte, leicht gepockte Oberfläche auf. Obwohl das hervorragende Deckblatt sehr wenig Blattvenen aufweist, ergibt das Gesamtbild einen robusten Eindruck.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
The Grand Robusto has very delicious smell of dark chocolate. In addition, a spicy component of horse droppings. Slightly grassy, straw-like with a little ammonia. The alluring coldsmell is complemented by aromas of oak bark.

Die Grand Robusto riecht äußerst lecker nach dunkler Schokolade. Dazu kommt eine würzige Komponente nach Pferdemist. Leicht grasig, strohig mit etwas Ammoniak. Abgerundet wird der verführerische Kaltgeruch durch Aromen nach Eichenrinde.

Smoking experience / Rauchgenuss:
The cigar starts relatively mild. Woody and bitter flavors forming accents in the voluminous smoke. In the course of smoking the cigar becomes pretty fast stronger.
The cigar retains its woody flavors with a very long time. Occurrence of oak flavor to the center. These are supported by a slight, subtle sweetness.
In the last thirg more aromatic and spicy flavors come to the fore. I find here hazelnut, nougat and some bitter almond. This rather sweet flavors are cushioned by some bitter tannic acid and thus contribute to the harmonious overall picture of this cigar.

Die Zigarre startet relativ mild. Holzige und herbe Aromen bilden Akzente im voluminösen Rauch. Im weiteren Verlauf wird die Zigarre recht schnell stärker.
Die Zigarre behält ihre holzigen Aromen sehr lange bei. Zur Mitte hin treten voranging Eichenaromen auf. Diese werden unterstützt von einer leichte, hintergründigen Süße.
Im letzten Drittel treten eher aromatisch-würzige Aromen in den Vordergrund. Ich finde hier Haselnuss, Nougat und etwas Bittermandel. Diese, eher süßen Aromen, werden durch etwas bittere Gerbsäure abgefedert und tragen so zum harmonischen Gesamtbild dieser Zigarre bei.

Ash / Asche:
The cement gray ash appears to be quite flaky soft. When depositing the ash falls apart and shows a splintery, somewhat grainy texture.

Die betongraue Asche erscheint recht flockig weich. Beim Ablegen zerfällt die Asche und zeigt eine splitterige, etwas körnige Struktur.

Conclusion / Fazit:
Once again, Pete Johnson has created a truly delicious cigar. Strong, but not overwhelming, and with an interesting and appealing flavor profile. A recommendation also to inveterate Cuba-smokers.

Da hat Pete Johnson wieder eine wirklich leckere Zigarre kreiert. Kräftig, jedoch ohne zu überfordern und mit einem interessanten und ansprechenden Aromaverlauf. Ein Empfehlung auch an eingefleischte Kuba-Raucher.
