The Short Bolivar from 2008 presents itself in a short and stout format with a length of 110 millimeters and a 52 ring gauge. The Colorado-colored wrapper appears very even, with only fine veins, a silky sheen and a slightly oily touch. A visually pleasing start for a compact yet full-bodied Habano.

Die Short Bolivar Eaus dem Jahr 2008 kommt im kurzen, kräftigen Format von 110 Millimetern Länge und einem dicken Ringmaß von 52. Das Coloradofarbene Deckblatt zeigt sich sehr gleichmäßig mit nur feinen Blattadern, einem seidigen Glanz und einem leicht speckigen Eindruck. Ein visuell ansprechender Auftakt für eine kleine, aber gehaltvolle Habano.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Before lighting, the cigar offers a delicate bouquet of cedarwood and mild tobacco. Hints of milk chocolate and a trace of fresh garden herbs add subtle complexity, suggesting a layered smoking experience.

Vor dem Anzünden entfaltet sich ein feines Aromenspiel von Zedernholz und mildem Tabak. Dazu gesellen sich leichte Noten von Milchschokolade und eine Spur frischer Gartenkräuter, die auf einen vielschichtigen Rauchverlauf hindeuten.

1st half / 1. Hälfte:
The opening is immediately aromatic. Strong coffee flavors set the tone, supported by woody notes. A subtle sweetness adds balance. Mediterranean herbs such as bay leaf bring depth, while dry earthy tones ground the overall profile.

Der Start ist direkt hocharomatisch. Kräftige Kaffeenoten dominieren, begleitet von holzigen Aromen. Eine leichte Süße schwingt mit, die den Eindruck abrundet. Mediterrane Gartenkräuter wie Lorbeer bringen zusätzliche Tiefe. Die Aromendichte ist hoch, während trockene Erdnoten für Bodenständigkeit sorgen.

2nd half / 2. Hälfte:

As the cigar progresses, woody notes intensify, steering the profile toward a more robust character. Black tea emerges alongside a hint of white pepper. Roasted flavors reminiscent of burnt toast add depth, creating a complex experience. The overall impression becomes drier and remains strong until the end.

Mit zunehmendem Verlauf verstärken sich die Holzaromen und verleihen der Zigarre eine herbere Richtung. Noten von schwarzem Tee treten hervor, begleitet von einer Spur weißen Pfeffers. Röstaromen erinnern an verbrannten Toast und sorgen für eine komplexe Aromatik. Die Eindrücke wirken trockener und bleiben kraftvoll bis zum Schluss.

Conclusion / Fazit:

The Bolivar has now matured for 17 years. This aging process is clearly reflected in its depth of flavor, which comes through in the dense and powerful profile. Small in size but big in character, it delivers an impressive intensity that makes it a remarkable cigar.

Die Bolivar hat nun 17 Jahre Reife hinter sich. Dieses Alter verleiht ihr eine aromatische Tiefe, die in der dichten und kraftvollen Struktur klar zum Ausdruck kommt. Sie ist klein im Format, aber groß in der Wirkung und zeigt eine beeindruckende Intensität, die sie zu einer herausragenden Zigarre macht.

The fine wrapper leaf demonstrates skilled craftsmanship, though some unfortunate bumps show through, slightly detracting from an otherwise flawless first impression. With its dimensions of 42 ring gauge and 165 millimeters, it perfectly embodies the classic format of a slender, long cigar.

Die La Flor de Cano Selectos No.3 präsentiert sich als elegante Lonsdale mit einem schönen Colorado-Deckblatt. Das feine Deckblatt zeigt handwerkliche Qualität, allerdings drücken sich bedauerlicherweise einige Unebenheiten durch, die dem sonst makellosen ersten Eindruck leicht abträglich sind. Mit ihren Abmessungen von 42 Ringmaß und 165 Millimetern verkörpert sie das klassische Format einer schlanken, langen Zigarre perfekt.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Cold, the cigar reveals an enticing palette of nutty aromas. Hazelnut and almond dominate, accompanied by delicate notes of roasted nuts. Creamy nuances of milk and cream caramel join in, while subtle tobacco aromas remain in the background, already hinting at a certain complexity.

Im kalten Zustand offenbart die Zigarre eine verlockende Palette nussiger Aromen. Noisette und Haselnuss dominieren, begleitet von zarten Mandelnoten. Dazu gesellen sich cremige Nuancen von Milch und Sahne-Karamell, während sich dezente Tabakaromen im Hintergrund halten und bereits eine gewisse Komplexität andeuten.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Contrary to the first olfactory impression, the cigar starts surprisingly spicy and rather astringent. Distinct tobacco flavors shape the opening, accompanied by woody notes and a slightly mineral component. This combination proves quite complex and hints that more will develop.

Entgegen dem ersten olfaktorischen Eindruck startet die Zigarre überraschend würzig und eher herb. Deutliche Tabakaromen prägen den Auftakt, begleitet von holzigen Noten und einer leicht mineralischen Komponente. Diese Kombination erweist sich als ziemlich komplex und lässt bereits erahnen, dass sich hier mehr entwickeln wird.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle section, the cigar continues to show bold spiciness, maintaining its strong character. Dark chocolate flavors now join the existing wood notes, adding a new dimension to the flavor profile. A light sweetness becomes noticeable while first hints of nuttiness begin to emerge.

Auch im mittleren Bereich zeigt sich die Zigarre kräftig würzig und behält ihren charakterstarken Ausdruck bei. Zu den bestehenden Holzaromen gesellen sich nun Aromen von dunkler Schokolade, die dem Geschmacksprofil eine neue Dimension verleihen. Eine leichte Süße macht sich bemerkbar, während sich erste Anzeichen von Nussigkeit andeuten.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The nuttiness increases significantly, harmonizing beautifully with the complex spice that runs through the entire smoking experience. Light bitter chocolate flavors remain present, complemented by fresh garden herbs. The mineral notes persist, giving the cigar depth. Toward the end, light bitter notes develop, reminiscent of black coffee, creating a fitting conclusion.

Die Nussigkeit nimmt deutlich zu und harmoniert wunderbar mit der komplexen Würze, die sich durch den gesamten Rauchverlauf zieht. Weiterhin präsent sind die Aromen leichter Bitterschokolade, ergänzt um frische Gartenkräuter. Die mineralischen Noten bleiben bestehen und verleihen der Zigarre Tiefe. Gegen Ende entwickeln sich leichte Bitternoten, die an schwarzen Kaffee erinnern und einen stimmigen Abschluss bilden.

Conclusion / Fazit:

This outstandingly good cigar impresses with deep and complex flavors that undergo a fascinating development. As a 2025 Edición Regional for the United Kingdom, it’s still very young, making its already impressive quality all the more remarkable. Unfortunately, the exclusivity is reflected in the price, making it a rather expensive pleasure.

Diese herausragend gute Zigarre überzeugt mit tiefen und komplexen Aromen, die eine faszinierende Entwicklung durchlaufen. Als Edición Regional für das Vereinigte Königreich aus dem Jahr 2025 ist sie noch sehr jung, was ihre bereits beeindruckende Qualität umso bemerkenswerter macht. Leider schlägt sich die Exklusivität auch im Preis nieder, was sie zu einem eher kostspieligen Vergnügen macht.

The majestic cigar shows itself in a flawless colorado wrapper. As expected, it is of very fine structure and has no noticeable leaf veins.

Die imposante Zigarre zeigt sich in einem makellosen coloradofarbenen Deckblatt. Erwartungsgemäß ist es von sehr feiner Struktur und weist keine merklichen Blattadern auf.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
In the cold smell I first notice sweet aromas of cedar wood and milk chocolate. These are underlined by impressions of hazelnut. Furthermore a hidden fruitiness is noticeable, which reminds me of peaches.

Im Kaltgeruch fallen mir zuerst süßliche Aromen nach Zedernholz und Milchschokolade auf. Unterstrichen werden diese durch Eindrücke nach Haselnuss. Weiterhin ist eine hintergründige Fruchtigkeit feststellbar, die mich entfernt an Pfirsiche erinnert.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Although the cigar is still relatively fresh, it has already developed magnificently. The first third is dominated by aromas of hazelnut and coffee. These are accompanied by the typical Cuban aroma duo of wood and leather. Very creamy smoke.

Obwohl die Zigarre noch relativ frisch ist, hat sie sich bereits jetzt prächtig entwickelt. Im ersten Drittel dominieren Aromen nach Haselnuss und Kaffee. Untermalt werden diese durch das typisch kubanische Aromenduo von Holz und Leder. Sehr cremiger Rauch.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle part, the creaminess decreases slightly and the aroma ratios are reversed. Here the wood and leather aromas dominate, accompanied by hazelnut and coffee. However, earthy aromas are also added here.

Im mittleren Bereich nimmt die Cremigkeit leicht ab und die Aromenverhältnisse kehren sich um. Hier dominieren die Holz- und Lederaromen, die von Haselnuss und Kaffee begleitetet werden. Ergänzend kommen hier aber noch erdige Aromen hinzu.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In the last third, the hazelnut and coffee aromas disappear almost completely, while leather aromas dominate unchallenged. These are accompanied by earthy aromas that remind me of fresh garden soil.

Im Letzten Drittel verschwinden die Haselnuss- und Kaffeearomen fast vollständig, während Lederaromen unangefochten dominieren. Untermalt werden diese von erdigen Aromen, die mich an frische Gartenerde erinnern.

Por Larrañaga - Lonsdales ER Alemania (2007)

Optics / Optik:
The elegant Lonsdale shows itself in a classic colorado. Over the years the wrapper has lost some of its shine, making it look a little dull. It has a fine structure with only a few, hardly visible leaf veins.

Die elegante Lonsdale zeigt sich in einem klassischen Colorado. Im Laufe der Jahre hat das Deckblatt etwas von seinem Glanz verloren, sodass es etwas matt wirkt. Es weist eine feine Struktur mit nur wenigen, kaum sichtbaren Blattadern auf.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
At first I perceive a smell that reminds me of very old wood. In the background a slightly flowery note resonates. Next to it I find light scents of leather, orchid and honey.

Zuerst nehme ich einen Geruch wahr, der mich an sehr altes Holz erinnert. Im Hintergrund schwingt eine leicht blumige Note mit. Daneben finde ich leichte Gerüche nach Leder, Orchidee und Honig.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar starts quite nutty and mildly woody. Aromas of white coffee and caramel finish up the sweet start. Already in fresh condition the cigar was round and creamy and has improved in this respect over the years.

Die Zigarre startet recht nussig und mild-holzig. Aromen von Milchkaffee und Karamell runden den süßen Beginn ab. Obwohl schon jung rund und cremig, so hat sie sich diesbezüglich nochmal deutlich gesteigert.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The creamy foundation of milk coffee and caramel remains dominant even in the middle section. The aromas are complemented by a subtle spiciness of garden herbs. Furthermore, the first wood aromas appear.

Das cremige Fundament aus Milchkaffee und Karamell bleibt auch im mittleren dominierend. Ergänzt werden die Aromen durch eine hintergründige Würzigkeit nach Gartenkräutern. Weiterhin tauchen erste Holzaromen auf.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In the last third the sweetness decreases more and more. Instead, the woody aromas continue and come to the foreground. The aromas of garden herbs are also more noticeable here. In addition, the coffee aromas, which are also still present, fit very well.

Im letzten Drittel nimmt sich die Süße weiter zurück. Dafür treten die Holzaromen weiter in den Vordergrund. Die Aromen von Gartenkräutern sind ebenfalls hier deutlicher feststellbar. Ergänzend passen die ebenfalls noch vorhandenen Kaffeearomen sehr gut.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A great cigar that has become better and better over the years.

Eine tolle Zigarre, die im Laufe der Jahre immer besser geworden ist.

Punch - Punch Royal ER BeNeLux (2009)

Like most ELs, this one has a classic colorado-maduro wrapper. A nice lardiness testifies to a high percentage of oils. The fine topsheet shows only minimal veining. Unfortunately the surface is slightly uneven. Here, slight unevenness of the doll comes through.

Wie die meisten ELs, so hat auch diese hier ein klassisches colorado-madurofarbenes Deckblatt. Eine schöne Speckigkeit zeugt von einem hohen Anteil an Ölen. Das feine Deckblett weist nur eine minimale Äderung auf. Leider ist die Oberfläche leicht uneben. Hier drücken sich leichte Unebenheiten der Puppe durch.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Mild cedar wood and cocoa are the main accents of the very fine and creamy cold smell. In addition, slightly flowery hints of orchid and rose are noticeable and complete the olfactory picture of the 10-year-old cigar.

Mildes Zedernholz und Kakao bilden die Hauptakzente des sehr feinen und cremigen Kaltgeruchs. Dazu sind leicht blumige Andeutungen nach Orchidee und Rose feststellbar und runden das Geruchsbild der 10 Jahre alten Zigarre ab.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Typically Cuban, the cigar starts woody and earthy. I think of beech wood and dry earth. Light roast aromas remind me of toasted bread. In addition I perceive aromas that I would describe as pithy. All in all the cigar shows a beautiful round aroma.

Typisch kubanisch startet die Zigarre holzig und erdig. Ich denke an Buchenholz und trockene Erde. Leichte Röstaromen erinnern an Toastbrot. Dazu nehme ich Aromen wahr, die ich als markig beschreiben würde. Insgesamt zeigt die Zigarre ein schönes, rundes Aromenbild.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle section, roast aromas increase to a medium strength. The cigar shows nutty aromas and tart, slightly bitter chocolate notes. The wood aromas decrease a little here. In addition, a juicy and at the same time creamy impression is created, which leaves a full mouth feeling.

Im mittleren Bereich steigern sich Röstaromen zu einer mittleren Stärke. Die Zigarre zeigt nussige Aromen und herbe, leicht bittere Schokonoten. Die Holzaromen nehmen hier etwas ab. Dazu entsteht ein saftiger, gleichzeitig cremiger Eindruck, der ein volles Mundgefühl hinterlässt.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In the last third, the wood aromas reappear a little more, but are complemented here by a spicy, aromatic herbal note. In the background I think I perceive hints of resin. Aromas of sweet almond round off the enjoyment.

Im letzten Drittel treten die Holzaromen wieder etwas mehr hervor, werden hier jedoch von einer würzig-aromatischen Kräuternote begleitet. Im Hintergrund glaube ich Harzaromen wahrzunehmen. Aromen von süßer Mandel runden den Genuss ab.

Conclusion / Fazit:
With an age of a well over 10 years, this cigar has already matured well, but can mature for many more years without any problems. This confirms my assessment that the last cigars I smoked from the Punsch brand have a good ageing potential.

Mit einem Alter von gut 10 Jahren ist diese Zigarre schon gut gereift, kann jedoch ohne Probleme noch weiter Jahre reifen. Das bestätigt mich in meiner Einschätzung, dass die zuletzt gerauchten Zigarren der Marke Punsch ein gutes Reifepotential besitzen.

Por Larrañaga - Secretos ER España 2013

Optics / Optik:
The small Petit Corona is covered with a classic colourado wrapper. Apart from a few small spots, it is without any faults. Because of the fine structure, single irregularities of the binder and bunch can be noticed.

Die kleine Petit Corona ziert ein klassisches coloradofarbenes Deckblatt. Abgesehen von ein paar kleinen Spots ist es ohne Fehler. Bedingt durchdie feine Struktur lassen sich einzelne Unebenheiten von Umblatt und Bunch erkennen.



Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
In the cold smell you first notice a spicy cocoa note, which is complemented by cedar wood and some menthol. Furthermore there is a smell of roasted almonds and some leather.

Im Kaltgeruch nimmt man zuerst eine würzige Kakaonote wahr, welche durch Zedernholz und etwas Menthol ergänzt wird. Weiterhin sind Gerüchenach gebrannten Mandeln und etwas Leder feststellbar.

1st half / 1. Hälfte:
Cubatypically the small cigar starts earthy and woody. I notice aromas of cedar wood, but also some leather. A slightly aromatic component that reminds me of parsley.

Kubatypisch startet die kleine Zigarre erdig und holzig. Ich nehme Aromen von Zedernholz, aber auch etwas Leder wahr. Dazu eine leicht aromatische Komponente, die mich an Petersilie erinnert.

2nd half / 2. Hälfte:
The aromas of cedar wood remain present in the further course. Although the cigar appears milder, I perceive the aromas as rich and complex.
Towards the end, the earthy aromas take on a dry loamy character. In addition, salty hints bring a spicy component into the game.

Auch im weiteren Verlauf bleiben der Aromen nach Zedernholz weiter präsent. Obwohl die Zigarre milder erscheint, nehme ich die Aromen als satter und komplexer wahr.
Gegen Ende nehmen die erdigen Aromen noch einmal zu erinnern an trocken Lehm. Zusätzlich bringen salzige Andeutungen eine würzige Komponente in Spiel.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A wonderful small cigar with very nice cuban aromas.

Eine wunderbare kleine Zigarre mit sehr schönen Kubaaromen.

Ramón Allones - Robusto XXL ER BeLux (2015)

The ER has a spotless wrapper. Smooth and slightly greasy. I would classify the wrapper in terms of colorado-maduro.

Die ER weist ein makelloses Deckblatt auf. Samtig und leicht speckig. Farblich würde ich das Deckblatt bei Colorado-Maduro einordnen.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
As expected, the cigar starts off strongly woody. Also as expected, strong leathery aromas form the additional aroma foundation. Where wood and leather appear here in a rough form, aromas of hazelnut, almond and coffee form a sweeter background.

Erwartungsgemäß startet die Zigarre kräftig holzig. Ebenso erwartungsgemäß bilden kräftig ledrige Aromen das weitere Aromenfundament. Wo Holz und Leder hier in einer derben Form auftreten, bilden Aromen nach Haselnuss, Mandel und Kaffee einen süßeren Hintergrund.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle, the nutty aromas come to the foreground, while the wood and leather are somewhat less pronounced. In the further background, floral aromas reminiscent of orchids emerge. I wouldn't have expected that from Ramón Allones.

Im Mittelteil treten die nussigen Aromen in den Vordergrund, während sich Holz und Leder etwas zurücknehmen. Im weiteren Hintergrund tauchenleicht blumige Aromen auf, die an Orchideen erinnern. Das hätte ich bei Ramón Allones nicht unbedinge erwartet.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In the last third, the woody aromas come to the fore again, while the aromatic part recedes again somewhat. As a substitute, strong roasted aromas after burnt toast can now be noted.

Im letzten Drittel treten die holzigen Aromen wieder in den Vordergrund, während sich der aromatische Teil wieder etwas zurücknimmt. Als Ersat dafür sind nun kräftige Röstaromen nach verbranntem Toast feststellbar.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A wonderfully diversified cigar, which, in my opinion, brings out the typical Ramón Allones aroma very well. A cigar with very good ripening potential, which is already very good smokable.

Eine wunderbar abwechslungsreiche Zigarre, welche das, meiner Meinung nach, typische Ramón Allones-Aroma sehr gut zur Geltung bringt. Eine Zigarre mit sehr gutem Reifungspotential, die schon jetzt sehr gut rauchbar ist.

Punch - Preferidos ER 2018 5ta Avenida (2019)

The current ER 2018 5ta Avenida is (once again) a special edition that is available in the following year. Anyway, the cigar is available and I tested it briefly.

From the beginning, the freshness of the thick Robusto is shown by a slight acidity. Nevertheless, nutty aromas and a certain sweetness are already quite present. As expected, the basic structure is a rather mild cigar, which is already developing well in the smoke process.

In my opinion, the cigar has a good ageing potential. In 5-7 years I expect the cigar will be a wonderfully aromatic and round smoke.

Bei der aktuellen ER 2018 5ta Avenida handelt es sich (mal wieder) um eine Sonderedition, die erst im darauffolgenden Jahr lieferbar ist. Wie dem auch sei, die Zigarre ist verfügbar und ich habe sie kurz angetestet.

Die Frische der dicken Robusto zeigt sich von Anfang an durch eine leichte Säure. Dennoch sind nussige Aromen und eine gewisse Süße schon recht präsent. Von Grundgerüst her eine erwartungsgemäß eher milde Zigarre, die sich im Rauchverlauf schon jetzt gut entwickelt.

Nach meiner Einschätzung weist die Zigarre ein gutes Reifepotential auf. Ich schätze, dass sie in 5-7 Jahren einen wunderbar aromatischen und runden Rauchverlauf bietet.

Diplomáticos - El Ambajador ER 2015 Países Bajos

Significantly bright Colorado, delicate shiny wrapper, a few veins disturb only minimally the overall picture.
Recht helles Colorado, feines glänzendes Deckblatt, einige wenige Adern stören das Gesamtbild nur minimal.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
Milk chocolate, cedar wood, slightly flowery, very aromatic.
Milchschokolade, Zedernholz, leicht blumig, sehr aromatisch.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
As expected, the cigar starts quite mild, but highly aromatic. Cedar and leather are the predominant aromas. After the first centimeter aromas of freshly roasted hazelnuts join the cigar. Compared with a Diplomáticos - No. 2 the El Ambajador seems a little more aromatic.
Erwartungsgemäß startet die Zigarre recht mild, jedoch hoch aromatisch. Zedernholz und Leder sind die vorherrschenden Aromen. Dazu kommen nach dem ersten Zentimeter Aromen nach frisch gerösteten Haselnüssen. Im Vergleich mit einer Diplomáticos - No. 2 erscheint mir die El Ambajador eine Spur aromatischer.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The flavors remain fairly constant in the middle part, but without being boring. Cedar, leather and some hazelnut. Here complemented by floral overtones.
Die Aromen bleiben auch im mittleren Teil recht konstant, ohne jedoch langweilig zu werden. Zedernholz, Leder und etwas Haselnuss. Hier jedoch durch einen floralen Beiklang ergänzt.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Near the end, in contrast to the No. 2, the cigar is only barely stronger. This results in a harmonious overall picture. The cedar flavors, however, in favor of a strong leather note are almost completely disappeared. Until the end the complexity and depth of flavors make the cigar to a real treat.
Im Gegensatz zur No. 2 wird die Zigarre gegen Ende kaum stärker. Dadurch ergibt sich ein harmonischeres Gesamtbild. Die Zedernholzaromen sind jedoch zugunsten einer kräftigen Ledernote fast vollständig verschwunden. Die Komplexität und Tiefe der Aromen machen die Zigarre bis zum Schluss zu einem Hochgenuss.

The cigar is wrapped in a nearly flawless wrapper. Only a small fermentation spot spoils the appearance. The maduro-colored wrapper has a beautiful and even veins. The greasy impression downright increases the appetite.

Die Zigarre ist in ein fast makelloses Deckblatt gewickelt. Lediglich ein kleiner Fermentationsfleck trübt das Erscheinungsbild. Das madurofarbene Deckblatt weist eine schöne, gleichmäßige Aderung auf und der speckige Eindruck macht regelrecht Appetit.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
The first impression of cold smell is relatively mild. Sweet with significant aromas of milk chocolate. In the background are detectable aromas of dried garden herbs.

Der erste Eindruck vom Kaltgeruch ist relativ mild. Süßlich mit deutlichen Aromen nach Milchschokolade. Im Hintergrund sind Aromen nach getrockneten Gartenkräutern feststellbar.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
As a first impression while smoking the description "old cupboard" I get in mind. This is not meant negatively. It refers to an impression old, seasoned wood. A kind of varnish, as it is known by wine. An aromatic component is made of sandalwood and some menthol. Overall, the first impression is nice and round.

Als erster Eindruck kommt mir beim Rauchen die Beschreibung "alter Schrank" in den Sinn. Das ist jedoch in keiner Weise negativ gemeint. Vielmehr ist damit ein Eindruck nach altem, abgelagerten Holz gemeint. Eine Art Firnis, wie man sie von Wein kennt. Eine aromatische Komponente wird von Sandelholz und etwas Menthol gebildet. Insgesamt ist der erste Eindruck schön rund.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The mid section the woodiness increases. Also intensify the flavors of garden herbs. Furthermore, the cigar offers a wonderful complexity.

Im mittleren Bereich nimmt die Holzigkeit zu. Ebenfalls werden die Aromen nach Gartenkräutern intensiviert. Weiterhin besticht die Zigarre durch eine wunderbare Komplexität.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Towards the end, the cigar becomes, as expected, increasingly stronger. The woody aromas decrease in favor of leather. The varnish has completely disappeared. In its place, a pleasant spiciness has entered.

Zum Ende hin wird die Zigarre erwartungsgemäß zunehmend stärker. Die holzigen Aromen nehmen zugunsten von Leder ab. Die Firnis ist vollständig verschwunden. An ihre Stelle ist eine angenehme Würzigkeit getreten.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
The cigar has a very aromatic and sweet coldsmell. It is dominated by aromas of white coffee and milk chocolate. These are complemented by nutty flavors and sweet almonds.

Die Zigarre besitzt einen ausgesprochen aromatisch-süßen Kaltgeruch. Er wird dominiert von Aromen nach Milchkaffee und Milchschokolade. Diese werden durch nussige Aromen und süße Mandeln ergänzt.



1st third / 1. Drittel:
The flavors of the cold smell can also be found at the beginning of the smoking experience. Sweet cappuccino aromas are complemented by woody aromas of fresh sawdust. The slightly earthy notes of dry loam match it. In the transition to the second third arise aromas of parsley.

Die Aromen des Kaltgeruchs finden sich auch zu Beginn des Rauchgenusses. Süßliche Cappuccino-Aromen werden hier jedoch durch holzige Aromen nach frischen Sägespänen ergänzt. Dazu passen die erdigen Noten nach trockener Lehmerde. Im Übergang zum 2. Drittel kommen Aromen nach Petersilie auf.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:

Die sich bereits gegen Ende des ersten Drittels andeutenden Kräuteraromen verstärken sich zum Mitte hin. Sie werden etwas herber und tendieren in Richtung Herbes de Provence. Das unterstreicht die holzigen Aromen. Gleichzeitig setzen sich die Cappuccino-Aromen vom Anfang auch im zweiten Drittel fort. Dadurch wirkt die Zigarre ausgesprochen cremig.



3rd third / 3. Drittel:
In the last third the flavors become increasingly herb. The coffee flavors reminiscent here of espresso. The cigar retains its woody note. Thereby she acts aromatic-spicy and quite complex. This impression is underlined by aromatic black pepper.

Im letzten Drittel werden die Aromen zunehmend herber. Die Kaffeearomen erinnern hier aber eher an Espresso. Die Zigarre behält ihre holzige Note. Dadurch wirkt sie aromatisch-würzig und recht komplex. Unterstrichen wird dieser Eindruck durch aromatischen schwarzen Pfeffer.

Puros in Palma

I spent a few days in Palma de Mallorca. Beside Cigars of the standard series, also a few local Ediciones Regionales and Ediciones Limitadas were smoked. Some of them during the public viewing of the current soccer-championship.

Ich war für ein paar Tage in Palma de Mallorca unterwegs. Neben Standardzigarren wurden natürlich auch lokale Ediciones Regionales und Ediciones Limitadas geraucht. Einige während des Public Viewings der aktuellen Fußball-Weltbeisterschaft.

Last shopping in Cologne

A few days ago I was with Peter Heinrichs in Cologne to redeem a voucher. I already had a few ideas, but ultimately it becomes a box of H. Upmann - Royal Robusto. In the end I also took a small Bulldog Smoking Pipe from Brebbia. It laughed at me.

And where I was already there, I've tried the new Rafael González - Petit Piramides ER Alemania. To make it short: the cigar was not tasty to me. Unfortunately. Generally, I like this format. And Rafael Gonzáles I smoke gladly. But this cigar is unsmokable. At least at the moment. Instead of a nice course you will be crushed by wood.
On the other hand, those cigars develop quite well. I could imagine that the cigar becomes more aromatic in 3 or 4 years. I'm undecided if I should buy a box or not.

Die Regionales zeigt sich in einem makellosen Colorado. Das optisch hervorragende Deckblatt hat eine sehr glatte Oberfläche ohne jede Unebenheit und sichtbare Adern. Eine sehr ansprechende Zigarre.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch
In the first moment inconspicuous and mild. A pleasing coldsmell, slightly nutty with woody hints.

Im ersten Moment recht unauffällig und mild. Ein gefälliger Kaltgeruch, leicht nussig mit holzigen Andeutungen.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
Very nutty, almond, praline and roasted hazelnuts. At the same time cedar and balsa wood. But already a kind of fruity flavors. A crazy combination.

Nussig nach Mandel, Noisette und gerösteter Haselnuss. Dazu Zedern- und Balsaholz. Aber gleichzeitig fruchtig. Einer ganz irre Kombination.

Burning, ash / Abbrand, Asche:
Exemplary, excellent Burning. Round and evenly.
Extremely stable ash. I once deposited ash, but it had not been necessary. Medium gray speckled with slightly open surface.

Mustergültiger, hervorragender Abbrand. Kreisrund und gleichmäßig. Äußerst stabile Asche. Ich habe einmal abgeascht, was aber absolut nicht notwendig gewesen wäre. Mittelgrau gefleckt mit leicht offener Oberfläche.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The first Third starts as expected. Quite woody. Hints of cedar which pairs very well with the aromas of dried fruit and apple. White pepper is evidence of the relatively young age of the cigar.

Das 1. Drittel startet wie erwartet recht holzig. Anklänge von Zeder zeigen sich, welche sich gut mit den Aromen von Trockenobst und Apfel paaren. Weißer Pfeffer zeugt von dem noch recht jungen Alter der Zigarre.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The middle shows the Short Robusto significantly creamy and mild. Light roasted flavors of coffee with milk and fresh roasted almonds. Fruity and nutty with hints of dried fruit and raisins. At the same time spicy, earthy and wooden. One is reminded of an oak forest. Extremely complex.

In der Mitte zeigt sich die Short Robusto deutlich cremig und mild. Leichte Röstaromen nach Milchkaffee und frisch gerösteten Mandeln. Fruchtig-nussig mit Anklängen von Trockenobst und Rosinen. Gleichzeitig würzig, erdig und hölzern. Man fühlt sich an einen Eichenwald erinnert. Äußerst komplex.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The final shows itself no less complex. The roasted flavors are much stronger and become visible as scorched wood and black coffee. Aromatic, spicy and woody. Beech is combined with fruity banana and a hint of mint.

Das Finale gestaltet sich nicht minder komplex. Die Röstaromen werden deutlich stärker und zeigen sich als angesengtes Holz und schwarzer Kaffee. Aromatisch, würzig und holzig. Buche, kombiniert mit fruchtiger Banane und einem Hauch Minze.

Conclusion / Fazit:
I didn't think that in such a short stub gets as much flavors. Rich in variety and every single draw a new taste sensation. Just phenomenal!
Because of the young Boxindates a little unbalanced. But when the cigar is aged for another 3-4 years, it will be the top-hit.

Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass man in so einen kurzen Stummel soviel Aromen reinbekommt. Variantenreich und jeder Zug ein neuer Geschmackseindruck. Einfach phänomenal!
Aufgrund des jungen Boxindates noch etwas unausgewogen. Aber wenn die Zigarre noch 3-4 Jahre liegt, ist die der Oberknaller.

Schöner, gleichmäßig runder Abbrand. Stabile Asche mit geschlossener Oberfläche. Hellgrau mit dunkleren Bereichen.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The Corona Extra begins more than one would expect with the cold smell. Herb and woody. Spiced Espresso paired with the subtle sweetness of dark chocolate.

Die Corona Extra beginnt stärker, als es der Kaltgeruch erwarten lässt. Herb und holzig. Würziger Espresso paart sich mit der subtilen Süße von Bitterschokolade

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
Over the time, the flavors went a bit uncharacteristic, but not unpleasant. The aromatic bitterness of espresso soaked mineral notes. Slightly animalistic. Leather, green pepper and ferns.

Im weiteren Verlauf werden die Aromen schäger, jedoch nicht unangenehm. Der herbe Espresso weicht mineralischen Noten. Leicht animalisch. Leder, grüner Pfeffer und Farnkraut.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Towards the end significantly earthy. Reminded of heavy clay soil. Impressions from the mineral crystallizes out of flint. A hint of musk completes the spectrum of flavor.

Gegen Ende deutlich erdig. Erinnert etwas an schweren Lehmboden. Aus den mineralischen Eindrücken kristallisiert sich Feuerstein heraus. Ein Hauch Moschus rundet das Aromenspektrum ab.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A delicious aromatic ER with a proper potential. In the course of flavors, but still a little edgy. Aging potential for quite a few years.

Eine lecker aromatische ER mit einem ordentlichen Potential. Im Aromenverlauf jedoch noch etwas kantig. Die Zigarre kann durchaus noch ein paar Jahre liegen.
