Top 5 of the year 2021

Even though it was very quiet on the blog this year, I still smoked no less good cigars. And although I remember a variety of cigars very fondly, 5 cigars stand for me again this year in highlight:

I particularly liked the Por Larrañaga- Montecarlos this year. A quite fresh cigar from 2019. Perhaps I like the cigar so much because it stands with its very slim format (RG 33) massively against the trend to ever thicker formats.

I also really liked another small cigar: Trinidad - Reyes from 2009. The Petit Corona was for me the perfect cigar for Sunday afternoon.

In 3rd place this year is a small pyramid, but very rarely seen: Punch - Petit Pyramide Edición Regional Sudáfrica. The cigar was the first and so far only South African ER released as part of the 2010 Olympics.

My fourth "Cigar of the Year" is also a Cuban cigar: Cohiba Línea 1492 - Siglo V. A classic Lonsdale that, here with a boxing date of Oct 2014, was already very round and balanced. Again, a slim cigar that is also seen rather rarely.

As the last cigar I would like to focus this year on a rather mild cigar from Honduras, which appeals to both beginners and experienced aficionados with its creamy flavors: Flor de Copan Classic - Corona. The cigar had lost sight of for quite some time, but this year rediscovered for me.

Auch wenn es in diesem Jahr sehr ruhig im Blog war, habe ich dennoch nicht minder gute Zigarren geraucht. Und obwohl ich mich an eine Vielzahl von Zigarren sehr gerne zurückerinnere, stechen auch dieses Jahr wieder 5 Zigarren für mich besonders hervor:

Besonders gut hat mir dieses Jahr die Por Larrañaga- Montecarlos gefallen. Ein recht frische Zigarre aus 2019. Vielleicht mag ich die Zigarre auch deswegen so gerne, weil sie mit ihrem sehr schlanken Format (RG 33) massiv dem Trend zu immer dickeren Formaten entgegen steht.

Ebenfalls sehr gut gefallen hat mir eine weitere kleine Zigarre: Trinidad - Reyes aus 2009. Die Petit Corona war für mich die perfekte Zigarre für den Sonntagnachmittag.

Auf Platz 3 findet sich dieses Jahr eine kleine Pyramide, die man jedoch sehr selten sieht: Punch - Petit Pyramide Edición Regional Sudáfrica. Die Zigarre wurde als erste und bisher einzige südafrikanische ER im Rahmen der olympischen Spiele im Jahre 2010 veröffentlicht.

Auch bei meiner vierten „Zigarre des Jahres“ handelt es sich um eine kubanische Zigarre: Cohiba Línea 1492 - Siglo V. Eine klassische Lonsdale, die, hier mit einem Boxing Date von Okt 2014, schon sehr rund und ausgewogen war. Wieder eine schlanke Zigarre, die man auch eher selten sieht.

Als letzte Zigarre möchte ich dieses Jahr eine eher milde Zigarre aus Honduras in den Fokus rücken, die mit ihren sahnigen Aromen sowohl Anfänger, als auch erfahrene Aficionados anspricht: Flor de Copan Classic - Corona. Die Zigarre hatte für längere Zeit aus dem Blick verloren, dieses Jahr aber für mich neu entdeckt.

Top 5 of the Year 2020

The quest for my personal top 5 turned out not quite easy this year. Not because I would have smoked too less or because no great cigars would have been there. No, there were many for me new and mostly also very tasty cigars. But there was no cigar, which would have remained in my memory as exceptional or outstanding.
But then there are a few cigars that I remember very fondly:

First of all, here is to mention the Romeo y Julieta - Dukes EL 2009. This cigar has developed extremely positively in recent years and is a real treat at the moment.

Also a treat was the Cohiba - Siglo VI from the 2017 box, which I have often overlooked the last time. Very balanced and creamy, but also spicy with a certain strength. A great cigar.

Then I love to remember the Fonseca - Delicias from 2015. I smoked this cigar quite often last year and it gave me many pleasant hours in this screwed up Corona year.

Pleasant hours has also prepared me the Arturo Fuente - Gran Reserva Flor Fina 8-5-8. A very nice and tasty cigar, of which I spontaneously reordered a box.

I must also reorder the Vegueros - Mañanitas. The small pyramid has since its release in 2014 increasingly acquired a permanent place in my humidor.

Die Suche nach meinen persönlichen Top 5 gestaltete sich in diesem Jahr nicht ganz einfach. Nicht, weil ich zu wenig geraucht hätte oder weil keine guten Zigarren dabei gewesen wären. Nein, da waren viele für mich neue und meist auch sehr leckere Zigarren dabei. Es war aber keine Zigarre dabei, die mir als außergewöhnlich oder herausragend in Erinnerung geblieben wäre.
Es gibt dann aber doch ein paar Zigarren, an die ich mich besonders gerne erinnere:

Zunächst einmal ist hier die Romeo y Julieta - Dukes EL 2009 zu nennen. Diese Zigarre hat sich in den letzten Jahren äußerst positiv entwichelt und ist im Moment ein echter Hochgenuss.

Ebenfalls ein Hochgenuss war die Cohiba - Siglo VI aus der 2017er Kiste, die ich die letzte Zeit öfters mal übersehen habe. Sehr ausgewogen und cremig, aber auch kräftig. Eine tolle Zigarre.

Dann erinnere ich mich gerne an die Fonseca - Delicias von 2015. Diese Zigarre habe ich im vergangen Jahr recht oft geraucht und sie hat mir in diesem vermurksten Corona-Jahr viele angenehme Stunden bereitet.

Angenehme Stunden hat mir auch die Arturo Fuente - Gran Reserva Flor Fina 8-5-8 bereitet. Eine sehr schöne und leckere Zigarre, von der ich spontan eine Kiste nachgeordert habe.

Nachordern muss ich auch die Vegueros - Mañanitas. Die kleine Pyramide hat sich seit ihrem Erscheinen im Jahre 2014 zunehmend einen festen Platz in meinem Humidor erworben.

Top 5 of the year 2019

2019 was again a very interesting cigar year. Many good cigars were smoked, many (for me) new cigars were smoked for the first time and some new discoveries were made. And after disregarding this topic for the last few years, I would like to present my Top 5 cigars of the past year:

Atypical for me, this year the 1st place is awarded to the ADV - Navigator Vespucci Robusto from the Dominican Republic. For me, this relatively mild cigar is the discovery of the year.

On the 2nd place in my subjective ranking is the upcoming Cohiba - Behike 58. Even if this cigar is too fat for me personally, it impresses with an extremely dense and balanced aroma.

Place 3 goes to a the Trinidad - Reyes from Nov 09. I bought the box a few years ago and then forgot. Fortunately, this little Cuban cigar is exceptionally good at the moment.

The 4th place is shared by two Edición Regionales from Cuba. In my opinion, the Punch - Perferidos ER 2018 5ta Avenida is a cigar with a very good maturing potential, while the Ramón Allones - Robusto XXL ER 2015 BeLux has already matured a few years and is developing very well.

2019 war wieder ein sehr interessantes Zigarrenjahr. Es wurden viele guten Zigarren geraucht, viele (für mich) neue Zigarren das erste Mal probiert und einige Neuentdeckungen gemacht. Und nachdem ich das Thema in den letzten paar Jahren vernachlässigt habe, möchte ich wieder einmal meine Top 5-Zigarren des vergangenen Jahres vorstellen:

Für mich untypisch, geht mein Platz 1 dieses Jahr an die ADV - Navigator Vespucci Robusto aus der Dominikanischen Republik. Diese relativ milde Zigarre ist für mich die Entdeckung des Jahres.

Auf Platz 2 bringt es in meiner subjektiven Rangliste die kommende Cohiba - Behike 58. Auch wenn mir persönlich die Zigarre zu dick ist, besticht sie durch ein einen äußerst dichten und ausgewogenen Aromenverlauf.

Platz 3 geht an eine Trinidad - Reyes aus Nov 09. Die Kiste hatte ich vor einigen Jahren gekauft und etwas vergessen. Zum Glück, den aktuell ist diese kleine Kubanerin außergewöhnlich gut.

Platz 4 teilen sich zwei Edición Regionales aus Kuba. Bei der Punch - Perferidos ER 2018 5ta Avenida handelt es sich um eine Zigarre, die meiner Meinung nach ein sehr gutes Reifepotential besitzt, während die Ramón Allones - Robusto XXL ER 2015 BeLux bereits ein paar Jahre reifen durfte und sich prächtig entwickelt.

Cohiba - Behike 58 (2019)

Notes / Anmerkungen:
At the moment there are some rumours about a new Cuban Behike 58. This new Cohiba will complement the super premium line upwards. At the same time, the demand of ever larger ring sizes will be satisfied. Now I can confirm these rumors. The new Behike 58 will probably be presented at the XXII Festival del Habano 2020 in Havana.
Through good contacts to Habanos S.A. at the InterTabac fair I was able to get a sample in advance and taste it. I hope it's understandable that I won't comment on my (absolutely trustworthy) contact here.

Ab und zu stößt man derzeit auf Gerüchte zu einer neuen Behike 58. Diese neue Cohiba soll die Superpremium-Linie nach oben hin ergänzen und befriedigt gleichzeitig die Nachfrage nach immer größeren Ringmaßen. Diese Gerüchte kann ich bestätigen. Die neue Behike 58 wird vermutlich auf dem XXII. Festival del Habano 2020 in Havanna vorgestellt.
Über gute Kontakte zu Habanos S.A. auf der InterTabac ist es mir gelungen, bereits vorab ein noch unbanderoliertes Exemplar zu bekommen und zu verkosten. Ich bitte um Verständnis, dass ich mich über meine (absolut vertrauenswürdige) Quelle hier nicht weiter äußern werde.
Preislich wird die Zigarre, nach meiner Vermutung, in Deutschland um die 75€ kosten.

Optics / Optik:
Even without a direct comparison with one of the previous Behikes, the Behike 58 is an impressive appearance.
The colorado wrapper has no noteworthy veining. It has a beautiful, silky sheen and is of the usual outstanding quality.

Selbst ohne einen direkten Vergleich mit einer der bisherigen Behikes, ist die Behike 58 eine imposante Erscheinung.
Das coloradofarbene Deckblatt weist keine nennenswerte Äderung auf. Es hat einen schönen, seidigen Glanz und ist von gewohnt herausragender Qualität.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
In the first impression I perceive sweet aromatic aromas of hazelnuts and hay. Notes of matured wood. I feel a bit reminded of a hay barn. Very appealing. In addition, a certain creaminess is noticeable already in the cold state. Already very complex.

Im ersten Eindruck nehme ich süß-aromatische Aromen von Haselnüssen und Heu wahr. Dazu Noten von abgelagertem Holz. Ich fühle mich etwas an einen Heuschober erinnert. Sehr ansprechend. Dazu ist schon im kaltem Zustand eine gewisse Cremigkeit feststellbar. Schon jetzt sehr komplex.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar begins distinctly creamy and round. A light hay note pairs with slightly woody notes. The aromas of creamy caramel and sponge cake are added. A Behike from the very beginning.

Die Zigarre beginnt ausgeprägt cremig und rund. Eine leichte Heunote paart sich mit leicht holzigen Noten. Dazu gesellen sich Aromen nach Sahnekaramell und Biskuit. Von Anfang an unverkennbar eine Behike.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
Towards the middle, the imposing cigar becomes stronger in aroma. This is where the woody aromas come to the fore. In addition creamy milk chocolate. Nevertheless, the cohibatypical hay notes remain noticeable. Extremely complex, at the same time very round and balanced.

Zur Mitte hin wird die imposante Zigarre in der Aromatik kräftiger. Hier kommen nach und zunehmend holzige Aromen zu Vorschein. Dazu cremige Milchschokolade. Trotzdem bleiben die cohibatypischen Heunoten weiterhin feststellbar. Äußerst komplex, gleichzeitig sehr rund und ausgewogen.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The creaminess remains even in the last third. Here, however, somewhat in the background. In addition to the very round woody aromas, a slightly floral note of hayflower resonates. Now also aromatic hazelnut and coffee aromas appear. Even if the cigar becomes much stronger, the cigar remains wonderfully balanced.

Die Cremigkeit bleibt auch im letzten Drittel erhalten. Hier jedoch etwas hintergründig. Neben den sehr runden Holzaromen schwingt eine leicht florale Note nach Heublume mit. Nun kommen auch aromatische Haselnuss- und Kaffearomen auf. Auch wenn die Zigarre nun deutlich kräftiger wird, bleibt die Zigarre wunderbar ausgewogen.

Conclusion / Fazit:
As with previous cigars in the series, the BHK 58 is also of outstanding quality. Despite the characteristic strength of the Medio Tiempo, the cigar is very balanced and creamy. A great cigar.

Wie schon die bisherigen Zigarrn der Serie, so ist auch die BHK 58 von herausragender Qualität. Trotz der prägenden Stärke des Medio Tiempo wirkt die Zigarre sehr ausgewogen und cremig. Eine tolle Zigarre.

Top 5 of the year 2014

As to the beginning of each year I want to introduce my top 5 cigars of last year. And like every year, I found it not easy to select the appropriate one.

1st place goes this time, no doubt to the Cohiba - Behike from the 40 Aniversario Humidor of 2006. Even if such cigars provoke downright adulation, personally I perceived this cigar as outstandingly good.

2nd place is also a Cohiba. In this case, a Cohiba - Espléndidos (Cuba 2003).

The 3rd place goes to a newcomer: the Montecristo - Petit No. 2 (Cuba 2014). Although it is a fresh cigar, whose flavors are often not developed properly, this one is already wonderfully balanced and round.

Last but not least is number 5 on the Punch - Gran Robusto, Edición Regional para España 2009

Wie zu Anfang jeden Jahren möchte ich meine Top-5-Zigarren des vergangenen Jahres vorstellen. Und wie jedes Jahr ist es mir nicht leicht gefallen, eine entsprechende Auswahl zu treffen.

Platz 1 geht diese Mal ohne Zweifel an die Cohiba - Behike aus dem 40 Aniversario Humidor von 2006. Auch wenn solche Zigarren Lobhudeleien geradezu herausfordern, fand ich persönlich diese Zigarre herausragend gut.

Platz 2 belegt ebenfalls eine Cohiba. In diesem Fall eine Cohiba - Espléndidos (Kuba 2003).

Platz 3 geht an einen Newcomer: die Montecristo - Petit No. 2 (Kuba 2014). Obwohl es sich um eine frische Zigarre handelt, deren Aromen oft noch nicht richtig entwickelt sind, ist diese hier bereits wunderbar ausgewogen und rund.

Aus einem Blindtasting unter Freunden direkt auf Platz 4 meiner Bestenliste: Bolívar - Belicosos Finos.

Zu guter Letzt geht Platz 5 an die die Punch - Gran Robusto, Edición Regional para España 2009.

As a special Christmas celebration cigar there was a Cohiba - Gran Coronas from the 35 Aniversario Humidor from 2001. An excellent cigar, which made me 4 (!) hours of maximum enjoyment.

Als besondere Weihnachts-Zigarre gab es zum Fest eine Cohiba - Gran Coronas aus dem 35 Aniversario Humidor von 2001. Eine hervorragende Zigarre, welche mir 4 (!) Stunden lang höchsten Genuss bescherte.

Cohiba Behike (2006) 2/2

How to describe a cigar that is as exclusive as the Cohiba Behike from 2006? Is it possible to describe such a cigar like an ordinary one? Does she need a special highlighting? On the other hand, a Cohiba Behike is just a cigar. Even a rare one.

Wie beschreibt man eine Zigarre, die so exclusiv ist, wie die Cohiba Behike von 2006? Darf man eine solche Zigarre beschreiben, wie eine "ganz gewöhnliche" Zigarre? Oder muss man sie besonders hervorheben? Auf der anderen Seite ist eine Cohiba Behike auch nur eine Zigarre. Wenn auch eine seltene.

Optics / Optik
The word "immaculately" describing the visual appearance of the rare cigar with the shiny satin finish, colorado colored wrapper actually quite good. Especially as a picture is worth a thousand words.

Das Word "makellos" beschreibt die Optik der raren Zigarre mit dem seidenmatt glänzenden, coloradofarbenen Deckblatt eigentlich schon ganz gut. Zumal ein Bild eh mehr sagt, als tausend Worte.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch
Even the cold smell is quite complex. The cigar presents itself quite velvety. She reminds me of pastry and milk chocolate. Nevertheless, it has a spicy component of herbs and dried apples. Compared with a Cohiba from the standard series, the Behike makes a milder and more balanced impression.

Schon der Kaltgeruch ist recht komplex. Die Zigarre präsentiert sich recht samtig. Sie erinnert an Mürbteig und Milchschokolade. Dennoch besitzt sie eine würzige Komponente nach Kräutern und getrockneten Äpfeln. Im Vergleich mit einer Cohiba der Standardserie macht die Behike einen milderen und ausgeglicheneren Eindruck.

1st fifth / 1. Fünftel
The Double Robusto starts quite mild. This impression continues into the 4th fifth. Actually, I would have expected a stronger cigar.
The first half is dominated by a subtle, neutral sweetness. As aromatic-spicy component is vanilla and something that I would describe as "sweet grass" detectable. These aromas are joined by soft leather.

Die Double Robusto startet recht mild. Dieser Eindruck setzt sich bis ins 4. Fünftel hinein fort. Eigentlich hätte ich eine stärkere Zigarre erwartet.
In der ersten Hälfte dominiert eine dezente, neutrale Süße. Als aromatisch-würzige Komponente ist Vanille und etwas, was ich als "süßes Gras" bezeichnen würde feststellbar. Dazu gesellen sich Aromen nach weichem Leder.

2nd fifth / 2. Fünftel
The sweetness of the first section is continued seamlessly. Milk and toffee provide a sweet and aromatic component. Also light roasted notes by toast and roasted hazelnuts were starting. The Cuban Touch is formed by aromas of dry ground and some balsa. At the same cigar has very creamy smoke.

Die Süße des ersten Abschnitts setzt sich im zweiten nahtlos fort. Für eine süßlich-aromatische Komponente sorgen Milch- und Toffee-Aromen. Ebenfalls setzen leichte Röstaromen nach Toastbrot und gerösteten Haselnüssen ein. Der cubanische Touch durch Aromen von trockener Erde und Balsa gebildet. Gleichzeitig ist die Zigarre äußerst cremig im Rauch.

3rd fifth / 3. Fünftel
In addition to the flavors of the second section, tart flavors of black tea were added. The woody notes increase while sweet and nutty flavors slightly fade into the background.

Zusätzlich zu den Aromen des zweiten Abschnittes kommen hier herbe Aromen nach schwarzem Tee hinzu. Die holzigen Noten nehmen zu, während süß-nussigen Aromen etwas in den Hintergrund rücken.

4th fifth / 4. Fünftel
From the middle the sweet aromas are replaced by slightly more powerful flavors. Here dominate moderately strong roasted flavors. Espresso forms with a certain aromatic sweetness a successful transition. Dry ground and spicy-tart wood notes indicates unmistakably to Cuba.

Ab der Mitte werden die süßlichen Aromen von etwas kräftigeren Aromen abgelöst. Hier dominieren mittelstarke Röstaromen. Espresso bildet mit einer gewissen aromatischen Restsüße einen gelungenen Übergang. Trockene Erde und würzig-herbe Holznoten deuten unverkennbar auf Kuba.

5th fifth / 5. Fünftel
In the last fifth the moderately strong roasted flavors continue. Viewed from the flavors, this section is similar to the last section. However, the earthy and woody flavors are more present. A slight freshness that reminds me of menthol emerges on the lip.

Im letzten Fünftel setzen sich die mittelstarken Röstaromen fort. Von den Aromen her ist dieser Abschnitt mit dem vorangegangenen vergleichbar. Jedoch werden die erdigen und holzigen Aromen präsenter. Auf der Lippe zeichnet sich eine leichte Frische ab, die an Menthol erinnert.

Conclusion / Fazit
In order not to fall into any adulation I keep my personal conclusion deliberately short. The Cohibe Behike of 2006 is an exceptionally good cigar. In my opinion with its surprisingly mild and rather sweet flavor it is not necessarily a typical Cohiba.
Whether the cigar, apart from the collector's value, is worth its price, everyone likes to decide for themselves.

Um nicht in irgendwelche Lobhudeleien zu verfallen halte ich mein persönliches Fazit bewusst kurz. Bei der Cohibe Behike von 2006 handelt es sich um eine außergewöhnlich gute Zigarre. Erstaunlich mild und eher süßlich von Aroma entspricht sie meiner Meinung nach nicht unbedingt einer typischen Cohiba.
Ob sie, vom Sammlerwert einmal abgesehen, ihren Preis wert ist, mag jeder für sich selbst entscheiden.

HABANOS S.A. presents the most exclusive and expensive Habano in the world.

March 3, 2006 (Havana, Cuba) — Corporación Habanos presented this morning the most expensive and exclusive Habano cigar in history, to be marketed in 40-unit containers, at a selling price of 15,000 Euros. The Cohiba Behike has the same length as the Lancero and the same girth as the Siglo VI, the two factory rings that have contributed to build the prestige of this brand. Corporación Habanos announced that this 4,000 cigar production lot is unique, for it will not be produced again.

Ever since Corporación Habanos conceived this project originally to commemorate the brand’s 40th anniversary, the project has remained completely secret. To that end, plants from the seed bed, the best growing fields of Vuelta Abajo, and even the best growers were selected. The outside wrapper leaf is made by Pancho Cuba, Alejandro Robaina and Antonio María Paz, three of the most prestigious growers in the world.

The careful selection and special care, the unique manufacturing process – all cigars have been hand-rolled by Norma, the most senior of the El Laguito cigar rollers – and the high quality production standards, give this Habano cigar unique characteristics. The 4,000 Cohiba Behike cigars will be sold in 40-unit containers – double-ringed and numbered from 1 to 4,000 – presented in 100 humidors made by the prestigious Paris-based company Elie Bleu.

This is a unique humidor, for its design and its materials: Galuchat, or manta ray skin, one of the most luxurious materials in the history of decoration; black ebony, mother of pearl, sycamore, cedar and ox bone. In certification of its exclusive nature, humidors will include a plate with the humidor number (from 1 to 100) the Cohiba Behike lot number it contains, and the owner’s name.

The price of each of these 40-cigar containers is 15,000 Euro, and will be sold only upon exclusive order to Habanos S.A. dealers.

This new vitola will be presented during the Gala Dinner of the 8th Habano Festival, which is celebrating this year the 40th anniversary of the Cohiba brand.

Die 4.000 Zigarren der Cohiba Behike werden zu 40 Stück verkauft werden - doppelt beringt und einzeln von 1 bis 4000 nummeriert - präsentiert in 100 Humidoren der renommierten Pariser Manufaktur Elie Bleu.

Durch das Design und ausgewählten die Materialien ist dies ein einmaliger Humidor: Galuchat oder Rochenhaut, eines der luxuriösesten Materialien in der Geschichte der Dekoration; schwarzes Ebenholz, Perlmutt, Bergahorn, Zeder und Ochsen-Knochen. Zur Kennzeichnung der Exklusivität werden die Humidore eine Plakette mit der Humidor-Nr. (von 1 bis 100), der Cohiba Behike-Losnummer, die er er enthält, und des Names des Besitzers versehen.

Der Preis für jeden dieser 40er-Humidore beträgt 15.000 Euro und wird nur auf exklusive Anfrage an Habanos S.A. Händler verkauft.

Diese neue Vitola wird während des Gala-Dinner des 8. Habano-Festival, das dem 40-jähriges Jubiläum der Marke Cohiba gewidmet ist, präsentiert werden.

Optics / Optik:
As expected, the cigar presented in a nice and smooth wrapper. Maduro colored, slightly greasy and with fine veins. The wrapper has a very seductive look.

Erwartungsgemäß präsentiert sich die Zigarre in einem schönen und gleichmäßigen Deckblatt. Madurofarben, leicht speckig und mit feinen Adern bietet das Deckblatt einen sehr verführerischen Anblick.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
In cold condition the cigar exudes a mild nutty smell. Slight herbal notes give a pleasant spiciness. Additional to that woody flavors like beech and fresh sawdust were added.

Im kalten Zustand verströmt die Zigarre einen mild nussigen Geruch, dem leichte Kräuternoten eine angenehme Würzigkeit mitgeben. Dazu kommen holzige Aromen nach Buche und frischen Sägespänen.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The typical Cuban Sublime starts with aromas of wood, but it also has a distinct touch of sweetness like caramel, hazelnut and marzipan.

Die Sublimes startet typisch kubanisch recht hölzern, weist aber auch einen deutlichen Süßetouch nach Karamell, Noisette und Marzipan auf.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
Expecting the age the cigar shows itself very balanced. Flavors of sweet wood alternating with bitter herbs. What may sound strange, is an extremely delicious tension, which can appear slightly different impressions at each draw.

Dem Alter entsprechend zeigt sich die Zigarre sehr ausgewogen. Aromen von süßem Holz wechseln sich mit herben Kräutern ab. Was sich vielleicht seltsam anhört, ist am Gaumen ein äußerst leckeres Spannungsfeld, was jeden Zug etwas anders erscheinen lässt.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Toward the end, the Cohiba is again significantly more aromatic. Oak and rosemary, additional strong marzipan aromas and light mint.

Zum Ende hin legt die Cohiba noch einmal kräftig zu. Eiche und Rosmarin, dazu kräftige Marzipanaromen und leichte Minze.

Burning, ash / Abbrand, Asche:
Typical cuban the cigar burns light wrong which is not bad, but also not nice.
The blue-gray ash has a very good stability. It forms a slightly cracked surface and is slightly grainy.

Kubatypisch stellt sich ein leichter Schiefbrand ein, der zwar nicht schlimm, aber unschön ist.
Die blaugraue Asche verfügt über eine sehr gute Stabilität. Sie bildet eine leicht rissige Oberfläche aus und ist minimal gekörnt.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A very balanced and rounded cigar. Partly still somewhat edgy during the course of flavors. In my opinion, it can mature a few more years without any problems.

Eine sehr ausgewogene und runde Zigarre. Teilweise noch etwas kantig im Aromenverlauf kann sie ohne Probleme noch weitere Jahre reifen.
