Optics / Optik:

Even though the wrapper has a few small fermentation faults and a few distinct leaf veins, the wrapper looks quite attractive. The colorado-colored wrapper shows a nice baconiness.

Auch wenn das Deckblatt ein paar kleine Fermentationsfehler und ein paar deutliche Blattadern aufweist, wirkt das Deckblatt recht ansprechend. Das coloradofarbene Deckblatt zeigt eine schöne Speckigkeit.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:

In the cold smell the cigar has a sweetish aromatic appearance. I feel reminded of Noisette and roasted almond. In the background I notice some milk coffee and leather.

Im Kaltgeruch wirkt die Zigarre süßlich-aromatisch. Ich fühle mich an Noisette und geröstete Mandel erinnert. Im Hintergrund nehme ich etwas Milchkaffee und Leder wahr.

1st third / 1. Drittel:

The cigar starts directly with strong leather aromas. These are accompanied by an aromatic spice of garden herbs. In the background I notice some pepper.

Die Zigarre startet direkt mit kräftigen Lederaromen. Untermalt werden diese durch eine aromatische Würze von Gartenkräutern. Im Hintergrund nehme ich etwas Pfeffer wahr.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:

In the further course of the smoking, the predominant leather note is replaced by wood. This also harmonizes very well with the still detectable garden herbs. At the same time the small cigar becomes increasingly creamy.

Im weiteren Verlauf wird die vorherrschende Ledernote durch Holz abgelöst. Auch dieses harmoniert sehr gut mit den nach wie vor feststellbaren Gartenkräutern. Gleichzeitig wird die kleine Zigarre zunehmend cremiger.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:

Finally, the impressions are complemented by aromas of fresh roasted hazelnuts and complete this delicious cigar in a pleasant way.

Zum Schluss werden die Eindrücke durch Aromen nach frische gerösteten Haselnüssen ergänzt und runden diese lecker Zigarre angenehm ab.

Por Larrañaga - Secretos ER España 2013

Optics / Optik:
The small Petit Corona is covered with a classic colourado wrapper. Apart from a few small spots, it is without any faults. Because of the fine structure, single irregularities of the binder and bunch can be noticed.

Die kleine Petit Corona ziert ein klassisches coloradofarbenes Deckblatt. Abgesehen von ein paar kleinen Spots ist es ohne Fehler. Bedingt durchdie feine Struktur lassen sich einzelne Unebenheiten von Umblatt und Bunch erkennen.



Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
In the cold smell you first notice a spicy cocoa note, which is complemented by cedar wood and some menthol. Furthermore there is a smell of roasted almonds and some leather.

Im Kaltgeruch nimmt man zuerst eine würzige Kakaonote wahr, welche durch Zedernholz und etwas Menthol ergänzt wird. Weiterhin sind Gerüchenach gebrannten Mandeln und etwas Leder feststellbar.

1st half / 1. Hälfte:
Cubatypically the small cigar starts earthy and woody. I notice aromas of cedar wood, but also some leather. A slightly aromatic component that reminds me of parsley.

Kubatypisch startet die kleine Zigarre erdig und holzig. Ich nehme Aromen von Zedernholz, aber auch etwas Leder wahr. Dazu eine leicht aromatische Komponente, die mich an Petersilie erinnert.

2nd half / 2. Hälfte:
The aromas of cedar wood remain present in the further course. Although the cigar appears milder, I perceive the aromas as rich and complex.
Towards the end, the earthy aromas take on a dry loamy character. In addition, salty hints bring a spicy component into the game.

Auch im weiteren Verlauf bleiben der Aromen nach Zedernholz weiter präsent. Obwohl die Zigarre milder erscheint, nehme ich die Aromen als satter und komplexer wahr.
Gegen Ende nehmen die erdigen Aromen noch einmal zu erinnern an trocken Lehm. Zusätzlich bringen salzige Andeutungen eine würzige Komponente in Spiel.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A wonderful small cigar with very nice cuban aromas.

Eine wunderbare kleine Zigarre mit sehr schönen Kubaaromen.

Saint Luis Rey - Pacificos ER 2009 Asia Pacifico

Optics / Optik:
The cigar is wrapped in a nearly flawless wrapper. Only a small fermentation spot spoils the appearance. The maduro-colored wrapper has a beautiful and even veins. The greasy impression downright increases the appetite.

Die Zigarre ist in ein fast makelloses Deckblatt gewickelt. Lediglich ein kleiner Fermentationsfleck trübt das Erscheinungsbild. Das madurofarbene Deckblatt weist eine schöne, gleichmäßige Aderung auf und der speckige Eindruck macht regelrecht Appetit.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
The first impression of cold smell is relatively mild. Sweet with significant aromas of milk chocolate. In the background are detectable aromas of dried garden herbs.

Der erste Eindruck vom Kaltgeruch ist relativ mild. Süßlich mit deutlichen Aromen nach Milchschokolade. Im Hintergrund sind Aromen nach getrockneten Gartenkräutern feststellbar.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
As a first impression while smoking the description "old cupboard" I get in mind. This is not meant negatively. It refers to an impression old, seasoned wood. A kind of varnish, as it is known by wine. An aromatic component is made of sandalwood and some menthol. Overall, the first impression is nice and round.

Als erster Eindruck kommt mir beim Rauchen die Beschreibung "alter Schrank" in den Sinn. Das ist jedoch in keiner Weise negativ gemeint. Vielmehr ist damit ein Eindruck nach altem, abgelagerten Holz gemeint. Eine Art Firnis, wie man sie von Wein kennt. Eine aromatische Komponente wird von Sandelholz und etwas Menthol gebildet. Insgesamt ist der erste Eindruck schön rund.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The mid section the woodiness increases. Also intensify the flavors of garden herbs. Furthermore, the cigar offers a wonderful complexity.

Im mittleren Bereich nimmt die Holzigkeit zu. Ebenfalls werden die Aromen nach Gartenkräutern intensiviert. Weiterhin besticht die Zigarre durch eine wunderbare Komplexität.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Towards the end, the cigar becomes, as expected, increasingly stronger. The woody aromas decrease in favor of leather. The varnish has completely disappeared. In its place, a pleasant spiciness has entered.

Zum Ende hin wird die Zigarre erwartungsgemäß zunehmend stärker. Die holzigen Aromen nehmen zugunsten von Leder ab. Die Firnis ist vollständig verschwunden. An ihre Stelle ist eine angenehme Würzigkeit getreten.

Bolívar - Fabulosos ER 2009 Benelux

Colorado colored, very fine wrapper. No remarkable veins, greasy, shiny. Perfect appearance.
Coloradofarbenes, sehr feines Deckblatt. Keine auffallenden Adern, speckig, glänzend. Perfektes Aussehen.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
Mild, nutty, milk chocolate, hazelnut, almond.
Mild nussig, Milchschokolade, Haselnuss, Mandel.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Nutty, very round, hazelnut, slightly earthy. Compared with the previously tasted Leaf downright mild. Slightly fruity, minimal citrus flavors.
Nussig, sehr rund, Haselnuss, etwas erdig. Im Vergleich mit der kürzlich getasteten Leaf regelrecht mild. Leicht fruchtig, minimale Zitrusaromen.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle also the nutty flavors dominate. Here, however, significantly increase the earthy notes. In addition, woody flavors come up. A very creamy smoke. Furthermore, very round and very tasty.
Auch in der Mitte dominieren die nussigen Aromen. Hier nehmen jedoch die erdigen Noten deutlich zu. Zusätzlich kommen holzige Aromen auf. Sehr cremiger Rauch. Weiterhin sehr rund und äußerst lecker.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The mild spiciness continues until the end. The cigar is becoming increasingly complex. The earthy flavors dominate significantly. A minimum menthol freshness is detectable in the background.
Die milde Würzigkeit setzt sich bis zum Ende fort. Die Zigarre wird zunehmend komplexer. Die erdigen Aromen dominieren deutlich. Dazu minimale Mentholfrische im Hintergrund.

San Cristobal - El Morro (2007)

Optics / Optik:
The juicy Maduro wrapper looks oily and greasy. It leaves almost a slightly sticky impression.

Das saftige Maduro-Deckblatt wirkt ölig und speckig. Es macht fast schon einen etwas klebrigen Eindruck.

Coldsmell / Kaltgeruch:
In contrast to the very appetizing appearance, the coldsmell is kind of boring. A little nutty chocolate, maybe milk. Otherwise only dry straw. Very disappointing.

Im Gegensatz zum sehr appetitlichen Aussehen, ist der Kaltgeruch recht langweilig. Ein wenig nussige Schokolade, vielleicht auch Milch. Sonst nur trockenes Stroh. Sehr enttäuschend.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar starts quite sweet. Significant aromas of caramel, hazelnut and milk chocolate dominate the first third. Furthermore hazelnut and cream. Overall, very creamy. There are also, unusual for a cigar, fruity aromas reminiscent of fresh raspberries. A grandiose start.

Die Zigarre startet recht süßlich. Deutliche Aromen von Karamell, Noisette und Milchschokolade dominieren im ersten Drittel. Weiterhin Haselnuss und Sahne. Insgesamt sehr cremig. Dazu kommen, für eine Zigarre ungewöhnlich, fruchtige Aromen, die an frische Himbeeren erinnern. Ein grandioser Start.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
Halfway down the cigar remains cloying and creamy. Slightly woody, spicy, in combination with bitter herbs. Herb notes are playing an increasing role.

Zur Hälfte hin bleibt die Zigarre süßlich und cremig. Jedoch kommen zunehmend auch herbe Noten ins Spiel. Leicht holzig, würzig, in Kombination mit herben Kräutern.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Toward the end, bitter herbal notes comes present. The cigar becomes spicier, the prominent sweetness is almost completely gone. Therefore typical Cuban flavors are brought to the fore. Delicious woody with flavors, that reminiscent of thick saddle leather. Then as a finale, as so often, clear flavors of marzipan. Sweet and very aromatic with hints of bitter almond.

Die herben Kräuternoten nehmen zum Ende hin zu. Die Zigarre wird würziger, die vorstechende Süße ist fast vollständig verschwunden. Dafür sind typisch kubanische Aromen in den Vordergrund gerückt. Lecker holzig mit Aromen, die an dickes Sattlerleder erinnern. Als Finale dann, wie so oft, deutliche Marzipanaromen. Süß und hocharomatisch mit Anklängen von Bittermandel.

Burning, ash / Abbrand, Asche:
The ash is finely cracked, slightly flaky and light gray in color. It has a good stability.

Die Asche ist fein rissig, minimal flockig und von hellgrauer Farbe. Sie weist eine gute Stabilität auf.

Conclusion / Fazit:
The cigar impressed from the beginning with a beautiful, varied bouquet of aromas. Very exciting and full and perfectly balanced. Despite the complexity of the cigar, it never overwhelmed the smoker, so it represents also a recommendation to a less experienced smoker.

The San Cristobal - El Morro (Boxing ABR07) was one of the tastiest cigars, which I was allowed to smoke in the recent times. Too bad that this was the last cigar from the box.

Die Zigarre begeistert von Anfang an durch ein schönes, abwechslungsreiches Aromenspiel. Äußerst abwechslungsreich und spannend und perfekt ausbalanciert. Trotz der Komplexität überfordert die Zigarre zu keinem Zeitpunkt, wodurch sie auf für einen wenig geübten Raucher eine Empfehlung darstellt.

Die San Cristobal - El Morro (Boxing ABR07) war eine der leckersten Zigarren, welche ich in der letzten Zeit rauchen durfte. Schade, dass dies die letzte Zigarre aus der Kiste war.
