DBL Maduro - Derrame III boxpressed

Optics / Optik:
Classic Maduro, greasy, clearly bruised at the head, slightly uneven surface. Except for the quadratic shape it is the same cigar as the Derrama III I've tested before.

Klassisches Maduro, speckig, am Kopf deutlich gequetscht, leicht ungleichmäßige Oberfläche. Bis auf die quadratische Form handelt es sich um die gleiche Zigarre wie die zuvor getestete Derrama III.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Also by this cigar I perceive the cold smell as quite mild. Chocolate, malt, brown bread, very pleasant and round.

Auch bei dieser Zigarre nehme ich den Kaltgeruch als recht mild wahr. Schokolade, Malz, Schwarzbrot, sehr angenehm und rund.

Notes / Anmerkungen:
As with the classic Parejo, the draw is much too light for me.

Wie schon bei der klassischen Parejo, so ist mir auch hier der Zug viel zu leicht.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar starts with distinct wood notes, which are responsible for a slightly bitter base note. Very dry on the palate. A little black coffee provides some aromatic variety.

Die Zigarre startet mit deutlichen Holznoten, die für einen leicht bitteren Grundton. Dazu ausgesprochen trocken am Gaumen. Etwas schwarzer Kaffee sorgt für etwas aromatische Abwechslung.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle part, the wood notes diminish somewhat and the coffee aromas become more and more apparent.

Im mittleren Teil mildern sich die Holznoten etwas ab und die Kaffeearomen treten mehr und mehr zum Vorschein.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Also with the boxpressed version the last third is the most delicious for me. Here, aromatic coffee forms the primary aroma, which is supplemented with hazelnut aromas. Additionally I perceive aromas of garden herbs.

Auch bei der boxpressed Variante ist das letzte Drittel für mich das leckerste. Hier bildet aromatischer Kaffee das Primäraroma, welches mit Haselnussaromen ergänzt wird. Zusätzlich nehme ich Aromen von Gartenkräutern wahr.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
The cigar developed a distinctly slanting burning, which did not even balance itself.

Die Zigarre entwickelte einen ausgeprägten Schiefbrand, der sich auch nicht von selbst wieder ausglich.

DBL Maduro - Derrame III

Optics / Optik:
Classic Maduro, greasy, a few unsightly leaf veins at the head, slightly uneven surface.
Klassisches Maduro, speckig, am Kopf ein paar unschöne Blattadern, leicht ungleichmäßige Oberfläche.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Quite mild, chocolate, malt, brown bread, very pleasant and round.
Recht mild, Schokolade, Malz, Schwarzbrot, sehr angenehm und rund.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Extremely mild in aroma. Hazelnut, coffee, hint of wood. Minimal acidity adds some spice.
Äußerst mild im Aroma. Haselnuss, Kaffee, Andeutung von Holz. Minimale Säure bring etwas Würze.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle range, the aromas are fortunately increasing, but without varying. Nevertheless, something like spiciness comes up here.
Im mittleren Bereich nehmen die Aromen erfreulicherweise zu, ohne jedoch zu variieren. Dennoch kommt hier so etwas wie Würze auf.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Only towards the end do clear aromas develop. It is dominated by wood, light tannic acid, some black coffee.
Erst zum Ende hin entwickeln sich deutliche Aromen. Es dominiert Holz, leichte Gerbsäure, etwas schwarzer Kaffee.

Ash / Asche:
The resulting ash has only a low stability. Powdery consistency, white through and through. Partially flaky surface.
Die entstehende Asche weist nur eine geringe Stabilität auf. Pluderige Konsistenz, durch und durch weiß. Teilweise flockige Oberfläche.

DBL - Amarillo Robusto

First impression / Erster Eindruck:
I was told, the lawless Connecticut wrapper was matured in a rum barrel. Very finely structured with slightly greasy spots. Visually very appealing.
The cold smell reminds me of Virginia pipe tobacco. Sweety-aromatic with grassy impressions. In the background slightly nutty with some creamy caramel.

Mir wurde gesagt, dass das makellose Connecticut-Deckblatt im Rumfass gereifte wurde. Sehr fein strukturiert mit leicht speckigen Spots. Optisch sehr ansprechend.
Der Kaltgeruch erinnert mich an Virginia-Pfeifentabak. Süßlich-aromatisch mit grasige Eindrücken. Im Hintergrund leicht nussig mit etwas Sahnekaramell.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
On the first 2 cm the Robusto seems quite strawy to me. The smoke appears to me slightly biting and clearly acidic. In addition, unfortunately, quite poor in additional aromas and a lack of draught resistance. Towards the middle the acidity decreases a little and aromas of coffee and light wood appear. The impressions remain constant until the end. The acidity of the beginning never disappears completely, remains present on the tongue.
A very mild cigar.

Auf den ersten 2 cm erscheint mir die Robusto recht strohig. Der Rauch wirkt auf mich leicht beißend und deutlich säuerlich. Dazu leider recht arm an weiteren Aromen und ein nicht vorhandener Zugwiderstand. Zur Mitte hin nimmt die Säure etwas ab und es kommen Aromen nach Kaffee und leichtem Holz zum Vorschein.Die Eindrücke bleiben bis zum Schluss konstant. Die Säure des Anfangs verschwindet nie ganz, sondern bleibt auf der Zunge präsent.
Eine sehr milde Zigarre.

DBL Maduro - La Flecha

Optics / Optik:
Slightly coarse and matt wrapper. Strong maduro colour with a few veins. Finely structured, with a grainy haptic. Optically a typical maduro cigar.

Leicht grobes und mattes Deckblatt. Kräftig madurofarben mit wenigen Adern. Fein strukturiert mit einer körnigen Haptik. Optisch eine typische Madurozigarre.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
The first thing I smell is a distinct honey note. In addition there are typical maduro chocolate aromas and flowery smells.



Zunächst springt mir eine deutliche Honignote in die Nase. Dazu kommen madurotypische Schokoladenaromen und blumige Gerüche.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
The cigar starts with light bitter notes of black coffee and dark chocolate. Slightly woody and with a nice depth. Quite complex in aroma. From the middle the cigar appears quite dry on the palate. Sweet aromas are recognizable towards the end.

Die Zigarre startet mit leichten Bitternoten nach schwarzem Kaffee und dunkler Schokolade. Leicht holzig und mit einer schönen Tiefe. Recht komplex in der Aromatik. Ab der Mitte wirkt die Zigarre recht trocken am Gaumen. Zum Ende hin sind süßliche Aromen erkennbar.
