Optics / Optik:
Optically the Robusto from the Canary Islands looks very appealing. The silky, richly colored wrapper shows a certain veining, which does not diminish the positive impression.

Optisch wirkt die Robusto von den Kanaren sehr ansprechend. Das seidige, satt coloradofarbene Deckblatt weist zwar eine gewisse Äderung auf, was den positiven Eindruck jedoch nicht schmälert.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
Also the very pleasant cold smell increases the joy of anticipating the cigar. In the first impression it conveys a smell of fresh garden herbs. Very quickly, however, aromas of mild tobacco and some raw cocoa become noticeable.

Auch der sehr angenehme Kaltgeruch steigert die Vorfreude auf die Zigarre. Im ersten Eindruck vermittelt diese einen Geruch nach frischen Gartenkräutern. Sehr schnell machen sich aber auch Aromen nach mildem Tabak und etwas Rohkakao bemerkbar.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar starts rather discreetly and without particularly prominent aromas. At second glance, however, I perceive slightly acidic aromas of fresh oak and some straw. A nice tobacco note rounds off the aromatic bouquet of the cigar.

Die Zigarre startet eher unauffällig und ohne besonders hervorspringende Aromen. Auf den zweiten „Blick“ nehme ich jedoch leicht säuerliche Aromen nach frischer Eiche und etwas Stroh wahr. Eine schöne Tabaknote rundet das Aromenspiel der Zigarre ab.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The aromas from the beginning also remain present in the middle. Here, however, more and more aromas of black coffee and chestnuts appear.

Die Aromen vom Anfang bleiben auch im mittleren Bereich präsent. Hier kommen jedoch mehr und mehr Aromen nach schwarzem Kaffee und Kastanien zum Vorschein.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The discrete impression from the beginning continued until the end. Deliciously woody and towards the end with an increasing but subtle sweetness.
All in all a beautiful, round composed cigar.

Der unauffällige Eindruck vom Anfang setzte sich bis zum Schluss fort. Lecker holzig und zum Ende hin mit einer zunehmenden, jedoch unauffälligen Süße.
Alles in allem eine schöne, rund komponierte Zigarre.

Ash / Asche:
The ash has a striking light colour and a remarkably smooth surface. It is stable and falls quite late.

Die Asche weist eine auffallend helle Farbe und eine bemerkenswert glatte Oberfläche auf. Sie ist stabil und fällt erst recht spät.

Kolumbus - Negro Robusto

Optics / Optik:
According to the name of the series, the maduro-oscuro wrapper of the cigar is very dark. Gently matt with a slight veining, but very appealing. The wrapper reminds me a bit of the crumb of black bread.

Dem Namen der Serie entsprechend ist das maduro-oscurofarbene Deckblatt der Zigarre sehr dunkel. Leicht matt mit einer leichten Äderung, jedoch sehr ansprechend. Das Deckblatt erinnert mich etwas an die Krume von Schwarzbrot.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
The black bread mentioned above is also found in the cold smell. Dark malt flavours mix with mild roasted flavours and some caramel. A cold smell to bite into.

Das oben genannte Schwarzbrot findet sich auch im Kaltgeruch wieder. Dunkle Malzaromen mischen sich mit milden Röstaromen und etwas Karamell. Ein Kaltgeruch zum reinbeißen.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
From the very beginning, the quite mild cigar brings out delicious caramel roast aromas. Here I also feel reminded of black bread. However, these quickly recede into the background. But different coffee flavours develop. From espresso to latte, everything is there.

Die im ersten Eindruck recht milde Zigarre bringt von Beginn an leckere karamellige Röstaromen zum Vorschein. Auch hier fühle ich mich an Schwarzbrot erinnert. Relativ schnell treten diese jedoch in den Hintergrund. Dafür entwickeln sich verschiedenste Kaffeearomen. Von Espresso bis zu Milchkaffee ist alles dabei.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
The sweetness of the coffee decreases slightly towards the centre. However, the coffee remains unchanged in its dominant aroma. In addition, I perceive slightly woody aromas, which complement the coffee excellently.

Die Süße des Kaffees nimmt zur Mitte hin etwas ab. Der Kaffee bleibt aber unangefochten das vorherrschende Aroma. Zusätzlich nehme ich aber leicht holzige Aromen wahr, welche den Kaffee vorzüglich ergänzen.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
Towards the end, the aromas shift further from coffee to wood. After all of the coffee sweetness, the bitter aromas are a welcome alternation. However, the cigar remains quite mild over the entire course of the smoking process.

Gegen Ende verschieben sich die Aromen weiter von Kaffee hin zu Holz. Nach der ganzen Kaffeesüße sind die herben Aromen eine willkommene Abwechslung. Die Zigarre bleibt aber über den gesamten Rauchverlauf recht mild.

Kolumbus - Azul Robusto

First impression / Erster Eindruck:
The "blue" Columbus comes with a colorado-claro-colored wrapper with an almost greenish shimmer. The finely structured wrapper has a somewhat matt appearance, but is still very appealing.
In the cold aroma I perceive aromas of mild coffee and chocolate. In addition, very light wood notes.

Die "blaue" Kolumbus kommt mit einem colorado-clarofarbenen Deckblatt mit schon fast grünlichem Schimmer daher. Das fein strukturierte Deckblatt wirkt etwas matt, jedoch trotzden sehr ansprechend.
Im Kaltgeruch nehme ich Aromen nehme ich milde Kaffee- und Schokoladenaromen wahr. Dazu ganz leichte Holznoten.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
The cigar starts for me as expected quite grassy and with aromas of hay. In addition a slightly bitter-sour note, which reminds me of tannic acid. In the background, light coffee aromas can be sensed.
Towards the middle, the coffee aromas increase slightly without the grassy bitter notes decreasing. Furthermore, slightly nutty aromas emerge. The cigar tends to appear somewhat sweeter.
Towards the end, the grassy aromas clearly increase. The smoke reminds me a bit of dry leaves. At the end there are aromas of aromatic black pepper.

Die Zigarre beginnt für mich wie erwartet recht grasig und heuig. Dazu eine leicht bitter-säuerliche Note, die mich an Gerbsäure erinnert. Im Hintergrund sind leichte Kaffeearomen zu erahnen.
Zur Mitte hin nehmen die Kaffeearomen etwas zu, ohne dass die grasigen Bitternoten abnehmen. Weiterhin tauchen leicht nussige Aromen auf. Tendenziell wirkt die Zigarre etwas süßer.
Gegen Ende nehmen die grasigen Aromen deutlich zu. Der Rauch erinnert mich etwas an trockenes Laub. Zum Schluss kommen Aromen nach aromatischem schwarzen Pfeffer auf.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A beautifully balanced cigar. Rather mild, but with a characteristic and pronounced aromatic profile and an elaborated blend.

Ein schön ausgewogen Zigarre. Eher mild, jedoch mit einem charakteristischen und ausgeprägten Aromenprofil und einem durchdachten Blend.

Kolumbus - Negro Piramide

The Columbus of the Canary Islands is definitely worth a try. It is a very mild cigar, but with very aromatic notes of coffee. These are particularly retrograde detectable.
The wrapper is a dark maduro leaf from Nicaragua. The inner wrappers and all the interleaved tobaccos come from the Canary Islands, from the Breña region.

Die Kolumbus von den Canarischen Inseln ist definitiv einen Versuch wert. Eine recht milde Zigarre, die jedoch durch ausgesprochen aromatische Kaffeearomen besticht.
Das Deckblatt ist ein dunkler Madurotabak aus Nicaragua. Die Umblätter und sämtliche Einlagetabake stammen von den Kanarischen Inseln, aus dem Gebiet Breña.
