Alec Bradley - Black Market Toro

Optics / Optik:
Also this Alec Bradly comes with a nice greasy Maduro wrapper. It has a grainy surface with only a few leaf veins. Together with the silky gloss it gives a very attractive appearance.

Auch diese Alec Bradly kommt mit einen schönen speckigen Maduro-Deckblatt. Es weist eine körnige Oberfläche mit nur wenigen Blattadern auf. Zusammen mit dem seidigen Glanz ergibt sich ein sehr ansprechendes Erscheinungsbild.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
As with many cigars from Honduras, the strong chocolate smell is noticeable. As has already been noted several times, a sweet and fruity note also resonates here, so that the impression is one of raisin and nut chocolate.

Wie bei vielen Zigarren aus Honduras fällt auch hier der starke Schokoladengeruch auf. Wie schon mehrfach festgestellt schwingt auch hier eine süß-fruchtige Note mit, sodass sich der Eindruck nach Traube-Nuss-Schokolade einstellt.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
The cigar has a relatively mild start. Actually, I remember the Black Market much more strongly. However, this is not to say that the Toro is a lightweight.
The aromas are dominated by clear wood aromas, which bring a slight bitter note and a hint of black pepper. A nice, honest tobacco note goes well with this.

Die Zigarre startet relativ mild. Eigentlich hatte ich die Black Market deutlich kräftiger in Erinnerung. Das soll jetzt allerdings nicht bedeuten, dass es sich bei der Toro um ein Leichtgewicht handelt.
An Aromen dominieren deutliche Holzaromen, welche eine leichte Bitternote und einen Hauch von schwarzem Pfeffer mitbringen. Dazu passt eine schöne, ehrliche Tabaknote.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
Although the aromas remain constant even in the middle part, which doesn't bother me in the least here, the wood aromas increase continuously.

Obwohl die Aromen auch im mittleren Teil konstant bleiben, was mich hier nicht im Geringsten stört, nehmen die Holzaromen kontinuierlich zu.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
This trend continues in the last third. Here, however, the cigar increases noticeably in strength. Nevertheless, the basic aroma impressions remain constant here as well.

Dieser Trend setzt sich auch im letzten Drittel fort. Hier nimmt die Zigarre jedoch merklich an Stärke zu. Allerdings bleiben auch hier die grundsätzlichen Aromeneindrücke konstant.

La Galana - Petit Corona

Optics / Optik:
The Petit Corona has an attractive, colorado-colored wrapper. A nice greasiness underlines the positive impression. The wrapper has a few veins and a few other small faults, which do not disturb the overall picture.

Die Petit Corona verfügt über ein ansprechendes, colorado-farbenes Deckblatt. Eine schöne Speckigkeit unterstreicht den positiven Eindruck. Das Deckblatt weist neben einigen wenigen Blattadern ein paar weitere kleine Fehler auf, welche das Gesamtbild jedoch nicht stören.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
The clearly noticeable chocolate smells are, in my opinion, typical of Nicaraguan tobacco. Here, however, they are complemented by a note of oak and some nut. However, a quite strong ammonia note is evidence of a rather young or fresh cigar.

Die deutlich feststellbaren Schokoladengerüche sind meines Erachtens typisch für nicaraguanischen Tabak. Hier werden sie jedoch ergänzt durch eine Holznote und etwas Nuss. Allerdings zeugt eine starke Ammoniaknote von einer recht jungen bzw. frischen Zigarre.

Smoking trend / Rauchverlauf:
Due to the ammonia, which can already be detected in the cold smell, the still very young cigar appears inharmonious. It shows that the Petit Corona still needs some time to become harmonious. Nevertheless, a strong wood note and some leather unmistakably reveal a Cuban style. The ammonia here produces clear bitter notes. The smoke itself appears dry on the palate.
In the further course of the smoke, aromas of wild herbs develop. This allows the bitter notes, which are still present, to fade into the background. Unfortunately, these increase again significantly towards the end, which reduces the smoking pleasure somewhat.
Nevertheless, delicious hazelnut aromas emerge on the last half inch, bringing the smoking process to a pleasurable end.

Durch den schon im Kaltgeruch feststellbaren Ammoniak wirkt die noch sehr junge Zigarre unharmonisch. Es zeigt sich, dass die Petit Corona noch etwas Zeit braucht, um sich zu hamonisieren. Dennoch offenbaren eine kräftige Holznote und etwas Leder unverkennbar einen kubanischen Stil. Der Ammoniak erzeugt hier deutliche Bitternoten. Der Rauch selber wirkt trocken am Gaumen.
Im weiteren Verlauf bilden sich Aromen nach Wildkräutern aus. Dadurch treten die nach wie vor präsenten Bitternoten etwas in den Hintergrund. Leider nehmen diese zum Ende hin wieder deutlich zu, was den Rauchgenuss etwas schmälert.
Dennoch tauchen auf dem letzten Zentimeter leckere Haselnussaromen auf, die den Rauchverlauf zu einen genussvollen Ende bringen.

Conclusion / Fazit:
Unfortunately, the still quite high ammonia level of the young cigar made an objective evaluation difficult. From cigars smoked in the past I know that the blend used is wonderfully balanced and aromatic. And here too I see a clear potential for ripening.

Leider erschwerte der noch recht hohe Ammoniakgehalt der junge Zigarre eine objektive Beurteilung. Von bereits in der Vergangenheit gerauchten Zigarren weiß ich aber, dass der verwendete Blend wunderbar ausgewogen und aromatisch ist. Und auch hier sehe ich ein deutliches Reifepotential.

Montecristo- Tubos (2007)

Optics / Optik:
If the banderole were not the old design, this cigar could also be considered one from the current production. The beautiful, colorado-colored wrapper appears evenly greasy and has a nice shine. In contrast to other Habanos from the tubes, only a few leaf veins disturb the flawless appearance.

Wäre nicht das alte Design der Anila, könnte man die Zigarre auch für eine aus der aktuellen Produktion halten. Das schöne, coloradofarbene Deckblatt wirkt gleichmäßig speckig und weist einen schönen Glanz auf. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Habanos aus dem Tubo stören nur wenige Blattadern da an sich makellose Äußere.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
As soon as you open the tube, a beguiling scent of wood and dark chocolate streams towards you. And a sweet component reminiscent of fresh pancakes and dried fruit. An amazingly present smell for a 13-year-old cigar.

Bereits beim Öffnen des Tubos strömt einem ein betörender Duft nach Holz und dunkler Schokolade entgegen. Dazu eine süße Komponente, die an frische Pfannkuchen und Trockenobst erinnert. Ein erstaunlich präsenter Geruch für eine 13 Jahre alte Zigarre.

1st third / 1. Drittel:
Typical Montecristo, the long corona starts eliciously woody and leathery. Due to the age of the cigar, these are already somewhat softened and integrate themselves harmoniously into the overall picture of the cigar. In the background I notice a hint of hazelnut and some garden herbs.

Typisch Montecristo startet die lange Corona lecker holzig und ledrig. Durch has Alter der Zigarre sind diese jedoch schon etwas abgemildert und gliedern sich harmonisch in das Gesamtbild der Zigarre ein. Im Hintergrund stelle ich eine Andeutung von Haselnuss und ein paar Gartenkräutern fest.

2nd third / 2. Drittel:
In the middle part, the nut aromas become somewhat more prominent and support the leather note that dominates here. Wonderfully round with a nice depth.

Im mittleren Teil treten die Nussaromen etwas mehr hervor und unterstützen die hier dominierende Ledernote. Wunderbar rund mit einer schönen Tiefe.

3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The leather note increases again in the last third. Here the slightly bitter tannic notes from the wood have a supporting effect. The nut aromas have disappeared in favour of an espresso aroma. The result is a harmoniously balanced aroma.

Die Ledernote nimmt im letzten Drittel noch einmal zu. Hier wirken die leicht bitteren Gerbstoffnoten aus dem Holz unterstützend. Die Nussaromen sind zugunsten eines Espressoaromas verschwunden. Es zeigt sich ein harmonisch ausbalanciertes Aromenbild.

Conclusion / Fazit:
A great harmonious cigar. Typical Montecristo aromas from the year 2007, which is my favourite one.

Eine tolle harmonische Zigarre. Typische Montecristo-Aromen aus dem von mir sehr bevorzugten Jahr 2007.

Romeo Y Julieta - Belvederes (2017)

Optics / Optik:
The Belvederes has a beautiful, oily, almost maduro-coloured wrapper. It has no visible leaf veins and gives the cigar a perfect finish.

Die Belvederes weist ein schönes, öliges, fast schon madurofarbenes Deckblatt auf. Es weist keinerlei Blattadern auf und gibt der Zigarre so ein perfektes Ausshen.

Cold smell / Kaltgeruch:
In the cold smell I first notice rather flowery smells. These are underlined by a light chocolate note. In the background slightly woody (cedar).

Im Kaltgeruch fallen mir zuerst eher blumige Gerüche auf. Unterstrichen werden diese von einer leichten Schokoladennote. Im Hintergrund leicht holzig (Zeder).

1st half / 1. Hälfte:
The small cigar starts directly very aromatic. Besides a light woody note, aromas of coffee and chocolate dominate here. Towards the middle part, aromas of caramel candy and somewhat resinous pine develop increasingly. Very round and pleasant.

Die kleine Zigarre startet direkt sehr aromatisch. Neben einer leichten Holznote dominieren hier Aromen von Kaffee und Schokolade. Zur Mitte hin entwickeln sich zunehmend Aromen nach Karamellbonbon und etwas harziger Kiefer. Sehr rund und angenehm.

2nd half / 2. Hälfte:
In the second half the wooden aromas increase noticeably. In the further course of the cigar's development they become increasingly stronger and give the cigar a beautiful foundation. In return, the chocolate aromas decrease significantly, while the coffee continues to accompany the smoking process.
The finale is finally introduced by a pleasant menthol note.

In der zweiten Hälfte nehmen die Holzaromen merklich zu. Im weiteren Verlauf werden diese zunehmend kräftiger und verleihen der Zigarre ein schönes Fundament. Im Gegenzug nehmen die Schokoladenaromen deutlich ab, während der Kaffee den Rauchgenuss weiter begleitet.
Das Finale wird schließlich von einer angenehmen Mentholnote eingeleitet.

Conclusion / Fazit:
The small Romeo Y Julieta with the excellent price-performance ratio is for me a perfect cigar for the lunch break.

Die kleine Romeo Y Julieta mit dem hervorragenden Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist für mich eine perfekte Zigarre für die Mittagspause.
