Optics / Optik:
The beautiful Corona appears to me extraordinarily dark, almost oscuro-coloured. Despite the dark colour the slightly shiny greasiness is easily recognizable. The wrapper doesn't look as fine as known from other cigars. It shows a clear but fine veining. Nevertheless a very attractive Maduro tobacco.
Die schöne Corona erscheint mir außergewöhnlich dunkel, schon fast oscurofarben. Trotz der dunklen Farbe ist die leicht glänzende Speckigkeit gut erkennbar. Das Deckblatt wirkt nicht ganz so fein, wie von anderen Zigarren bekannt. Es weist eine deutliche, jedoch feine Äderung auf. Dennoch ein sehr ansprechender Maduro-Tabak.
In the first moment an intense chocolate smell rises into my nose. This is complemented by a spicy olfactory foundation of liquorice, forest soil and caramel candy. A very appetizing smell, which increases the anticipation of the cigar.
Im ersten Moment steigt mir ein intensiver Schokoladengeruch in die Nase. Ergänzt wird dieser durch ein würziges Geruchsfundament aus Süßholz, Waldboden und Karamellbonbon. Ein sehr appetitlicher Geruch, der die Vorfreude auf die Zigarre steigert.
1st third / 1. Drittel:
As is often the case with other cigars with an intense chocolate odor, the Skel Ton - Corona does not have this odor in the smoke. But the cigar starts quite strong. The strong roast aromas remind me of singed wood and rustic smoked tobacco. At the same time a mineral, slightly salty impression is created. Despite the rustic aromas, a certain creaminess of fat cream is noticeable, which rounds off the spicy-harsh appearance and partly reduces it.
Wie schon oft bei anderen Zigarren mit einem intensiven Schokoladengeruch festgestellt, so ist dieser auch bei der Skel Ton - Corona im Rauch nicht feststellbar. Dafür startet die Zigarre recht kräftig. Die starken Röstaromen erinnern mich an angesengtes Holz und rustikalen, geräucherten Tabak. Gleichzeitig entsteht ein mineralischer, leicht salziger Eindruck. Trotz der rustikalen Aromen ist eine gewisse Cremigkeit von fetter Sahne feststellbar, die das würzig-herbe Erscheinungsbild abrundet und teilweise auch abmildert.
The strong, spicy and tangy aromas of burned wood remain very present in the middle part. However, I find the cigar increasingly aromatic. Coffee and nut aromas complement the woody base very pleasantly. Although the smoke appears dry on the palate, a slightly buttery impression is created.
Die kräftigen, würzig-herben Aromen nach versengtem Holz bleiben auch im mittleren Teil weiterhin sehr präsent. Jedoch empfinde ich die Zigarre zunehmend aromatischer. Kaffee- und Nussaromen ergänzen die holzige Basis sehr angenehm. Obwohl der Rauch am Gaumen trocken wirkt, entsteht ein leicht buttriger Eindruck.
3rd third / 3. Drittel:
The tart and aromatic basic impression continues in the last third. Here too, burned wood dominates, accompanied by coffee and hazelnut. The slight bitterness underlines the slightly rustic overall impression
Der herb-aromatische Grundeindruck setzt sich auch im letzten Drittel fort. Auch hier dominiert angesengtes Holz, begleitet von Kaffee und Haselnuss. Die leichte Bitterkeit unterstreicht den leicht rustikalen Gesamteindruck.
Conclusion / Fazit:
Like the Robusto, the Corona has the unmistakable Nordic character of Skel Ton. Tart, strong and somewhat angular. A real character head.
Wie schon die Robusto so weist auch die Corona den unverwechelbaren nordischen Charakter von Skel Ton auf. Herb, kräftig und etwas kantig. Ein echter Charakterkopf.
